John Button (campaigner)

John Button is a resident of Western Australia, who wrongfully spent 5 years in prison for murder. He was charged and convicted despite another man having admitted to the murder.
Button, was sentenced to 10 years in 1963 for manslaughter in the death of his girlfriend, He was imprisoned in Fremantle Prison along with Eric Edgar Cooke who admitted the crime. After 39 years his conviction was quashed in 2002 after evidence proved Cooke was the actual murderer.
Now he spearheads the Western Australian Innocence Project which aims to get the wrongfully convicted out of jail.
