Tomasin became well known in the early 1970s when she joined the cast of Upstairs, Downstairs as scullery maid Ruby. She stayed with the series until the end, appearing in 41 episodes.

Between 2005 and 2006 she was a member of the cast of the soap Emmerdale as Noreen Bell, a cantankerous villager, who was killed off in July 2006.
