Jean Piccard

Dr. Jean-Felix Piccard (Basel, Switzerland, January 28, 1884 – January 28, 1963, Minneapolis, Minnesota) was a Swiss-born American scientist and high-altitude balloonist.
Several other members of the Piccard family including Jean's twin brother Auguste and Auguste's grandson Bertrand are known for ballooning.

- Some Star Trek fans speculate that the character Jean-Luc Picard is named after him, and is his descendant. Although evidence from the series, as well as the different spelling of the name, seems to directly contradict this.
