[edit] AIDS Reappraisal

Hi, I've noticed you removed the Pseudoscience categorisation from AIDS reappraisal. Do you mind explaining this on the talk page? Thanks. Trezatium 17:35, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jang Young-sil source

Hi. Thanks for taking interest in this article.

Yes it is the source that I have indicated below.

Baek Sauk Gi is the author. The page number is 61.

I already had a discussion with another Wikipedian and here it is (from my talk).

"I got your message & replied to it. Just in case you missed it.

Woong-Jin-Wee-In-Jun-Gi #11 Jang Young Sil by Baek Sauk Gi. Copyright 1987 Woongjin Publishing Co., Ltd. Pg. 61.

This is my bibliography. It says in Korean that although China was the first one to print, a Korean named Chae Yoon Eyee (eui) invented the first iron movable type printing.

And then... Jang Young Sil (장영실), under the instruction of King Sejong, made a better iron movable type printing with the purpose of printing out the newly published Hoon-Min Jung-Eum (book on Korean alphabet). (Wikimachine 05:05, 22 April 2006 (UTC))

http://www.samboart.co.kr/information/info03.html

"⑶ 구리 활자 : 고려 고종 21년(1234)에 만들어 최 윤의(催允儀)가 집필한 ‘상정고금예문’ 50권을 인쇄하였다. 이것은 독일의 구텐베르그가 금속 활자를 발명한 것보다 211년 앞서는 것이었다." (Wikimachine 05:11, 22 April 2006 (UTC))

He made the 1st iron movable type printing. He's an inventor. Chinese made the 1st wooden movable type printing. Thanks Appleby. (Wikimachine 05:32, 22 April 2006 (UTC))

You are so persistent! I suspected that you were Korean. So am I, but I'm not good in my native language... so I'll type in English.

Here it says that Chwe Yoon Eye made & printed with that iron movable type.

"세계에 널리 알려지지는 않았으나, 사실은 우리 조상이 세계 최초늬 금속 활자를 발명하였읍느다. 고려 인종 때 쵀윤의가 지은 <상정고금에문> (에절에 관한 글을 모은 책)을 고려 고종 21년 (1234년)에 처음으로 활자를 만들어 인쇄하였던 것입니다."

pg. 61 웅진위인전기 11 장영실 by 백석기. (c) 1987 웅진출판주식회사

Thanks Appleby for your fervent effort to spread Korean culture and history. (Wikimachine 17:38, 23 April 2006 (UTC))

also, in my previous post, i put this: http://www.samboart.co.kr/information/info03.html

"⑶ 구리 활자 : 고려 고종 21년(1234)에 만들어 최 윤의(催允儀)가 집필한 ‘상정고금예문’ 50권을 인쇄하였다. 이것은 독일의 구텐베르그가 금속 활자를 발명한 것보다 211년 앞서는 것이었다." (Wikimachine 17:41, 23 April 2006 (UTC)) I hope that this helps."

Thanks again.

[edit] Question

I've posted a question to you on Category talk:Pedophile activism -Will Beback 18:05, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

There is a process for deleting categories - WP:CFD. I think it's only fiar to put things back the way they were, then go through the normal procedure. Do you have any problem with that? -Will Beback 06:20, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
Yes. It's pointless. If someone has an objection, they can move it back and we can redo it with the added rigmarole. JayW 18:17, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
Well, I do have an objection so I'll move it back and then you can propose the change formally. -Will Beback 20:55, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
Okay. JayW 23:05, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your admonition

I am not sure what your comments on my talk page are refering to. I do not subscribe to the pedophilia obsession which demeans or belittles others, though the ugly reality of that witch hunt cannot be denied. I welcome your interest in editing the article on pederasty, though I would request that you observe closely the principles of this project - especially important in matters that tend to roil the emotions, such as the intersection of youth and sexuality. Regarding my reversal of your edit, perhaps I should have explained myself more fully. I have now done so, here. Regards, Haiduc 04:52, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User page

I received a complaint about your user page because it contains material which seems rather gruesome. I'm not sure whether it is intended seriously, humorously, or ironically, but what you ahve there now is rather antagonistic. While we're at Wikipedia, our jobs are to verifiably summarize reliable sources using the neutral point of view, not axpress opinions. I'm not complaining about your editing, just the user page. Your consideration is appreciated. Cheers, -Will Beback 08:22, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

Okay. JayW 16:25, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. -Will Beback 21:16, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome!

Hi JayW, thanks for joining WP:PAW and contributing in that area. It's hard finding good editors who are not all emotional and stuff on the subject.

Also, thanks for the reminder on the gas masks. I always try to keep mine handy. Although another way of looking at things is:

[edit] Terrorism

I suggest before you revert the terrorism point again you join the discussion on the talk page for the Ku Klux Klan. This item was discussed before the last change was made. You may want to propose an alternative in the lead, such as "has advocated the use of violence to instill terror in blacks and civil rights supporters" or "has been found guilty of organizing campaigns of violence". The cite to the discussion of terrorism has both sides of the argument; not participating in the discussion on the talk page is likely to lead to a circular revert war. Sam 19:03, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Hi Jay, thanks for the shoutout on Child Sexuality. I'm glad someone noticed because it has been a grind. IngBeth Larssons's paper was a godsend, though, because it surveys so many other papers. Plus he's (she's?) Swedish, so no one can call him (her?) a prude and stuff. I sure wish I could get my hands on the that Glenn Ramsy study, though. 16%? Yeesh... Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Diverse Habbo.png. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --james // bornhj (talk) 04:51, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] re Age disparity in sexual relations

I guess I went kind of medieval on this article (at least on the talk page; I didn't change anything in the article -- yet -- except the "Slang terms" section). I'd be interested in your take on this article. Was I too harsh? The article's been tagged as WP:OR for a while, and it does kind of read like somebody's essay -- a reasonably good essay, with many of the assertions probably true, but still an essay. I'd like to see it be more scientific and stuff. ----

No, I think you'd be right to cut it down. It's not very good. JayW 20:37, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] List of Internet phenomena

Hi! I have reverted your removal of Ebaum's World from List of Internet phenomena. This has been discussed a while ago and, if I recall correctly, there was a consensus that it belongs there. If you oppose that, please discuss the issue on the talk page first. By the way, ‘lol’ is not a very efficient edit summary; please consider using more meaningful summaries when editing articles in the future to make it easier for other editors to understand your edits. —xyzzyn 20:24, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

The burden of proof is on you, not me. See WP:CITE. JayW 20:36, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Reliable sources

I removed your citations[1] from Pedophile activism because they do not appear to meet the standard of Wikipedia:Reliable sources. "Personal websites, blogs, and other self-published or vanity publications should not be used as secondary sources." I doubt there is much informaton on this topic to be found in reliable sources. (Normally I'd post a message about an edit on the article talk page, but it's so busy there I thought I'd slip this to you over here). Cheers, -Will Beback 07:14, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

BTW, is this user:24ip? -Will Beback 21:25, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Yes. JayW 21:36, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] urk, footnotes

Hi Jay. At Age of consent reform, if I'm reading the history correctly, which I might not be as it's very active right now, anyway, the preferred method for footnotes is <ref>http://www.someurl.com</ref> at the point of the footnote. A <references/> at the end in a Notes section automatically gathers them all together.

There is an older method, which has the advantage of allowing text to be included with the footnote, but which is deprecated and subject to redaction by enthusiastic bots. But at any rate simple numbered footnotes are not part of Wikistyle. Herostratus 00:36, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

k, I didn't add those, though. JayW 00:51, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Right, oops, sorry, it was the original creator, I got bolixed up, nevmind. Cheers, Herostratus 17:18, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Child pornography

Howdy, I noticed your restoration of material I removed from the Child pornography article. Although you are correct that the material was cited (albeit incompletely), there is a discussion on the talk page about the removal. The sentiment of the discussants at the present is that the material is unnecessary. I have additional questions about the nature of the source (being that court transcripts are usually not published with an opinion, and are not usually considered part of the opinion. Just wanted to make you aware of the discussion on the talk page and encourage your opinion there. Thanks, --TeaDrinker 20:41, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please remove message from your userpage

Please remove the message about your being an 11-year-old girl from your userpage. This is not the way to protest policy, or do whatever it is that you are doing. I find your edit summary, "MUAHAHAHA THE POOR INNOCENT CHILDREN WILL NEVER KNOW", especially offensive. Despite the fact that you are (probably) making a joke, this behaviour is unbecoming of an editor and is bad for the project as a whole. Please keep your criticism of ideas to dialog and refrain from making WP:POINTs. BigNate37(T) 00:18, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

:'( How'd you see past my clever ruse? Your Critical Thinking Skills® must be pretty good. :0 And I'll cease my terribly unbecoming behavior immediantly. JayW 00:26, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Saqqara Bird

I have nominated Saqqara Bird for WP:DYK. If accepted it will appear in the Did You know section of the Main Page. Cheers.--Fuhghettaboutit 00:23, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] DYK

Updated DYK query On 13 September 2006, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Saqqara Bird, which you created. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

[edit] Wikipedia:Protecting children's privacy

Hi. You contributed to the discussion at Wikipedia:Protecting children's privacy. If you have the time and interest, I'm asking contributors to past a brief summary of their position on the proposal here, thanks. ~~

I am surprised by your view that the proposed policy 'facilitates the rape of children'. The discussion about the policy is difficult enough already without the addition of satire and irony. Would you like to clarify your view? The Land 20:30, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

My comment is not "satire or irony," thank you. Aside from very obvious practical concerns - the policy, as it is, is completely useless and based on a myth - the promotion of this myth is a key blocker, sometimes intentionally, to ending abuse which is not mythical. I'd like to keep this as narrow as possible, and focus only on the links section. If you're interested, could I ask you to provide me with:

a) a few diffs illustrating reversions on the article page that reflect bias on the part of career editors there

b) (if you feel like it) specific instances of incivility or bias you encounted on the talk page there.
