[edit] Perth Glory - early career
Jaime Harnwell first joined Perth Glory in 1998 from local outfit Sorrento and quickly cemented himself in the starting eleven and earned a reputation as a strong, uncompromising defender with a penchant for scoring important goals from corners. Jamie Harnwell sometimes is exposed in the defence due to his lack of ball skills. However Harnwell makes up for that loss and slides in to save the day. Jamie is consistently on the ground, and is believe to be hopless and pathetic to most critics.
[edit] Leyton Orient
In 2003 Jamie enjoyed a brief stint with Leyton Orient in England as well as playing a game for Welling while on trial.
[edit] Perth Glory - current
At the end of the 2003 English Football season Jamie came back to Perth & resumed his career with the Perth Glory. After playing with the Glory in the 2003/2004 season of the old NSL which was disbanded,Jamie again had the option to continue his career overseas in England. Jamie decided to play for Western Australian State League club Sorrento where his younger brother Todd plays while waiting for the A-League to begin so he could keep match fitness as well as fine tuning his world famous Harnwell Hoof. It was worth the wait for as Jamie as he was named as team captain for the inaugural A-League season, Harnwell produced consistent performances and was rarely criticised by management and fans. Perth have given Harnwell the honour of being the captain of the side for a second season in a row. A rumoured dispute behind closed doors over the captaincy susposedly involved Simon Colosimo challenging Harnwell for the skippers arm band. Many supporters believed Stan Lazaridis should have taken on the captaincy, but Lazaridis did not want the job. Harnwell continues to skipper the side.
[edit] Harnwell Hoof
The Harnwell Hoof has become a famous term used by supporters with regards to Harnwell's regular "hoofing" of the ball out of defence. The hoof has started to rub off on other defenders in the Glory team with Ante Kovacevic and David Tarka now regularly hoofing the ball out of defence and to safety.
