James Norris, Sr.

James Norris, Sr. (December 10, 1879 – December 4, 1952) was an owner in the National Hockey League.
Born in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, Norris was owner of the Detroit Red Wings from 1933 until 1952. During this time, the Red Wings won the Stanley Cup five times. The Norris Trophy and the old Norris Division are both named in his honor. His son, Bruce Norris, became the owner of the Red Wings, keeping the team in the Norris family for nearly fifty years.
He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1958.
