Jacob Mincer (July 15, 1922 in Tomaszow, Poland-August 20, 2006) was an economist most notable for his statement of the idea of human capital in economics. Papers on labor economics frequently use Mincerian Equations, which use human capital as variables to explain how wage is determined in a statistical estimation. Mincer graduated from Emory University and received his Ph.D. from Columbia University, where he would spend most of his career teaching.
