Inverse relationship
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A negative, or inverse relationship is a mathematical relationship in which one variable decreases as another rises.
For example, there is an inverse relationship between education and unemployment -- that is to say, as public education increases, the rate of unemployment decreases.
An example of a inverse relationship that has to do with chemistry is wavelength x frequency = speed of light, also written as:
λ x ν = c
Contrast with direct relationship.
