- An anatomical subdivision of the brain: the hippocampus is a part of the brain important for the formation of new memories
- Seahorse — a genus of fish
- A creature in mythology and fantasy — In Greek mythology the hippocampus ("seahorse") was a mythical monster with the head of a horse and body resembling a fish or dolphin. One of them pulled Poseidon's chariot. The hippocampus is also among the magical species in the Harry Potter fantasy series, where they are associated with merpeople.
Hippocampus may also refer to a children's library and community center in Koramangala, Bangalore.
