Hi Lo

Hi Lo is a pricing game on the American television game show The Price Is Right. Debuting on April 9, 1973, it is played for a prize, worth between $2,500 and $10,000, and uses grocery items.

The contestant is shown six grocery items, and is asked to select what he thinks are the three highest-priced items out of the bunch; host Bob Barker reveals their prices as they are selected. If all three remaining items are priced lower than the least expensive of the selected items, the contestant wins; there is no margin of error. Assuming random selection, the odds of winning are 20:1.

- The first playings of Hi Lo had different rules. Here, Bob asked the contestant whether he believed a particular item belonged in the "Hi" row or the "Lo" row. This was changed to the current rules after no more than two playings.
- There have been three Hi Lo sets. The first one was orange colored and lasted five years. The second one was white and clear colored and was introduced in 1978. The third set, introduced on October 26, 1990, is blue colored and is still being presently used.
- Hi Lo is always wheeled out by the models before the bonus prize is shown. In the early days of the show, this was the standard way of revealing a game and its prizes (with the game being shown first), but only Hi Lo and a few other games, namely Bonus Game and Range Game, continue the practice.
- Hi Lo's groceries are also described before the bonus prize is shown.
- Hi Lo is the first pricing game to display its name on the prop.
