Haybridge High School

Haybridge is an 11-18 mixed comprehensive with 1,100 students (300 in the sixth form) in Hagley, serving North West Worcestershire.
Haybridge is deemed to be a high-performing specialist school. It is a Technology College, with two second specialisms of Vocational and Sports College. It is a Training School and Leading Edge School.
The Ofsted Report (2004-2005) for the school showed that the school is performing well. All marks given were 1 (for Excellent) except a 2 (for Good) for Food and Health. The food at the school has since been improved.
At the beginning of the 2004-2005 school term Haybridge (which was a 13-18 school) merged with Hagley Middle School (which was a 9-13 school) which made a 11-18 school, Hagley Middle School was served by lots of smaller first schools, those first schools have now been made primary schools to serve Haybridge. Haybridge currently has 2 sites, students in years 9 and above are located at the Brake Lane site, whereas students in years 8 or 7 are located at the Park Road site. This however will change at the end of the 2005-2006 school year when students on the Park Road site will move to the Brake Lane site. To accommodate these changes the Brake Lane site is having major extensions added (total building cost of around £5 million). This work is causing inevitable difficulties in teaching and working around the Brake Lane site.
The GCSE and A level results of 2006 were also very good with, 89% of students achieving 5A* - C GCSE or equivalent passes or more and 73% achieving the 'gold standard' of 5A* - C GCSE or equivalent passes including English and Maths.
An amazing 9 students collected results which were all A*'s and A's, with star students Robin Farmer, Miranda Parry and Eleanor Stone achieving 11, 10 and 9 A*'s respectively.
Headteacher, Dr. Melvyn Kershaw, was delighted for both students and staff. "Value-added data is the real measure of a successful school; I offer my congratulations to students and staff alike on this outstanding achievement."
He added "I am really pleased that so many students have done so well and can go on to study their chosen courses at sixth form or at college. We wish them all well as they move on to the next stage in their education."
