[edit] Plot
Prometheus is chased into a gas cloud by an alien ship. Samantha Carter is knocked out, and when she wakes up, all crew members and escape pods are gone. She must not fall asleep because of the concussion. She has visions of a little girl running around the ship and of her friends, who vocalize her worries and theories about her predicament. Daniel says that the gas cloud is actually a living being and doesn't like what she's doing to get Prometheus out. Soon, Carter comes up with an idea to shield Prometheus with an extra energy hull in order to get it moving. She then comes in contact with the alien vessel who was stuck too. She made a deal with the aliens that she'd let the crew go so they can both escape. They both hold their ends of the bargain.
[edit] Notes
- According to an interview with Robert C. Cooper, the race which owned the alien ship is known as The Shippers.
- Craig Veroni (the weapons officer) would later play the recurring character of Dr. Peter Grodin on Stargate Atlantis.
- This episode's plot is similar to the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Night Terrors", in which the crew is unable to go into deep sleep, experience halluncinations, and are ultimately rescued from their predicament by interpreting odd visions to discover a scientific solution to their predicament.
- The Season 2 Stargate Atlantis episode "Grace Under Pressure" also involves a similar situation (except in a Puddle Jumper under the ocean) with Rodney McKay stuck inside. It is likely that the title of the Atlantis episode is a reference to this one (Grace) and to the fact the Jumper is at the bottom of the ocean (Under Pressure).
- It is entirely possible that Carter was not hallucinating, and that her visions actually were the cloud trying to communicate with her, as hypothesised by the apparition in the form of Daniel Jackson.
