Goran Petrović

Goran Petrović (Serbian Cyrillic - Горан Петровић) (born 1961 in Kraljevo, Serbia) is one of the most significant and most read Serbian writers. He studied Yugoslav and Serbian literature at the Faculty of Philology of Belgrade University. He works as a librarian in a spur of city library in Žiča, about 50 meters away from Žiča Monastery.
He published: book of short prose Advices for Easier Life (Савети за лакши живот 1989), novel Sky-locked Atlas (Атлас описан небом 1993), collection of tales Island and Ambiental Stories (Острво и околне приче 1996), novel Siege of The Saint Salvation Church (Опсада цркве Светог Спаса 1997), novel Smalltalk Place at "Lucky Shot" (Ситничарница „Код срећне руке" 2000), collection of tales Close One (Ближњи 2002), collection of chosen short prose Everything I Know About Time (Све што знам о времену 2003) and drama Ferry (Скела 2004). His books were printed in more than editions.
Petrović's novels were translated in Russian, French, Italian and Spanish language
Novel Siege of The Saint Salvation Church was dramatized and directed as a play, by Kokan Mladenović, in National Theatre in Sombor.
Goran Petrović won Borislav Pekić fund scolarship, "Prosveta's Award", "Meša Selimović Award", "Charter of Raca", "Golden bestseller", "Vital's Award", "National Library of Serbia the Most read Book Award", NIN Annual Award 2001, "October Award of city of Kraljevo, and "Borisav Stanković Award".
