Hey there, I'm Goatrider. I joined the Wikipedia community on the 27th of November, 2005. My handle is not representative of my sexual habits or hobbies, in fact, I don't even know why I adopted it to begin with. I got that nickname many years ago when I was part of a certain Internet group that shall remin nameless ;)

[edit] Unofficial Wikipedia Welcoming Committee

I started an unofficial "welcoming committee" on wikipedia. I joined the Wikipedia Welcoming Committee recently. Basically, (until I learn how to make a bot to do it automatically) when I get some free time, I sit on the user creation log page, and click on the red "Talk" link next to each user's name, and put a pre-built welcome template into their talk page. Some guy did the same for me when I started off on Wikipedia, so I figured I could return the favor to the new wikipedian community. I find that when you start a new job, be it paid or volunteer, you get along with people better if you're shown kindness ahead of time. :-) Check out my contributions page for examples (edits marked "new user welcome").

I'm starting to record spoken versions of various articles about Serial Killers here on Wikipedia. It's a sick idea, but I'm a sick person, and I think it's a cool idea nonetheless. Keep an eye on the upcoming versions of these articles for more info:

What better excuse is there to record yourself being profane and add it to an encyclopedia, than Wikipedia's Spoken Articles? This site is so awesome...
