Test debut: 21 January 1948 |
Gerald Arthur Smithson (November 1, 1926–September 6, 1970) was a cricketer who played two Test matches for England on the tour to the West Indies in 1947-48 but never established himself in county cricket.
He was called into the Test team from National Service as a "Bevin Boy" conscripted to work in the coalmines, but was injured on the tour and did not play for his county, Yorkshire, in 1948. After two further indifferent seasons, he joined Leicestershire, where he appeared with limited success until 1956.
