Gear was an English language men's magazine published by Bob Guccione, Jr. in the United Kingdom. It followed the men's magazine mold, and featured revealing pictorials of popular singers, actresses, and female models, along with articles on a variety of subjects including technology, fashion, and sports.
Gear magazine closed its doors in 2003.[1]
[edit] Overview
Debuting in September of 1998, with actress Peta Wilson on the cover, Gear established itself with a number of publishing stunts. It received its highest amount of press when it featured a nude pictorial of actress Jessica Biel, who posed for the provocative photos while she was working for the family drama 7th Heaven.
[edit] Criticism
The magazine had been criticized for being too similar to other, more popular and established magazines, such as Maxim and Spin.[2]
