Galactose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase (or GALT) is an enzyme (EC 2.7.7.12) responsible for converting ingested galactose to glucose. Deficiency of GALT causes galactosemia.
The GALT gene is located on the ninth chromosome (9p13).
