Fischer Skis
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fischer Skis is an Austrian company producing Nordic and Alpine skiing equipment. They produce many World Cup winners in both disciplines. Their alpine racing models, the Worldcup SL (Slalom,) GS (Giant Slalom,) and RC (Worldcup performance,) have had excellent success. The RX line of high performance recreational skis has also been very successful in recent years. Their top of the line alpine racing boot is the F9000 Worldcup.
They are also very well known for Nordic Skiing. Their top of the line model, Fischer RCS, is produced in Skatecut and Classic models. Their best boots, the Centrix S9000 Skate, and C9000 Classic, have taken home many medals. The S9000 is compatible with the Salomon Pilot Nordic Binding system. Fischer recently teamed up with Salomon Nordic to make Salomon-compatible Fischer bindings. Fischer makes the Salomon Pilot skate system too, with the binding just being a different color than Salomon's.
[edit] Rottefella/Fischer Partnership
Taking effect beginning of the 2007-2008, Fischer will partner with Nordic Binding producer Rottefella. Rottefella bindings will be the official bindings of Fischer Skis boots. Presently, Fischer boots use the Salomon Nordic System (SNS.) Rottefella is a manufacturer of NNN (New Nordic Norm) bindings. These two binding systems are not compatible, and, beginning in 2007, Fischer boots will be using the NNN system to be compatible with Rottefella bindings.
