Fiona Ritchie (b. 1960) produces The Thistle & Shamrock - an hourlong Celtic music program that airs on NPR every week. Fiona was born and raised in Scotland, where she went to the University of Stirling for her undergraduate education. While in college, she got an opportunity to spend one semester in the American state of North Carolina through a student exchange program. It was in North Carolina where she got introduced to NPR as a volunteer. She later joined WFAE FM, the NPR station in Charlotte, NC, to oversee fundraising efforts.
At WFAE, Fiona first started airing The Thistle & Shamrock in 1981 and in two years the program started broadcasting nationally.
