FC Wacker Innsbruck
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
FC Wacker Innsbruck was a football club in Innsbruck, the capital of Tirol, a Bundesland in Austria. The complex and intertwinded history of the club started when FC Wacker Innsbruck was founded in 1913 and ended in bankruptcy and folding of FC Tirol Innsbruck in 2002.
FC Wacker Tirol was founded in 2002 and is considered the 'moral' continuation of FC Wacker, FC Swarovski and FC Tirol as shown in the clubs name and its choice of team colours of green and black. However this is a new club as legally it cannot be considered the same club and has no right to claim the previus clubs trophies as its own.

On July 20, 1971 FC Wacker Innsbruck and WSG Wattens joined together to focus the football power of Tirol on one team. The team built on the fusion of the teams was called SpG Wattens-Wacker Innsbruck. The fusion only applied to the professional sections of the clubs and the junior categories of both teams remained unaffected. After sponsorship changes the teams name was changed once more to SSW Innsbruck (Sparkasse Swarovski Wacker Innsbruck).
