Elastico
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Elastico, Flip Flap, or Ronaldinho (after a much watched advert when he performed it), is a football skill invented by 1970s Brazil footballer Rivelino. In recent times, it has been learned by Zlatan Ibrahimovic of Internazionale and Sweden, and Ronaldinho of Barcelona and Brazil. The skill consists of flicking the ball up with the outside foot, then quickly cushioning it with the instep of the same foot, wrong-footing the defender who reacts to the initial contact.
Though simple on first sight, the move is very difficult to execute properly without lots of practice. There are two ways of making it, by pushing the ball hard onto a locked ankle, causing the ball to bounce off your foot; or by gently taping it in and then hitting the ball hard with the instep, on purpose.
