Education Resources Information Center
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Education Resources Information Center (ERIC), sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) of the U.S. Department of Education, produces a large international database of journal and non-journal education literature. The ERIC online system provides the public with a centralized ERIC Web site for searching the ERIC bibliographic database as well as for submitting materials so they can be considered for inclusion in the database (see MyERIC Online Submission). ERIC provides access to bibliographic records of journal and non-journal literature indexed from 1966 to the present. ERIC also contains a growing collection of full-text materials in Adobe PDF format including the legacy ERIC Digests.
What's in the collection? The ERIC collection includes bibliographic records (citations, abstracts, and other pertinent data) for more than 1.2 million items indexed since 1966, including:
- journal articles
- books
- research syntheses
- conference papers
- technical reports
- policy papers, and
- other education-related materials

ERIC Database for Education Majors
ERIC is a database for journal articles that have anything to do with education. It also hosts articles that are not from a journal source. There are many different options to search by, including date, source, document type, language, and type of text. To find an article, a person can use almost any part of what they are looking for and can be sorted by phrase, keyword, author, title, and publication date to name a few. It is extremely well organized and has many search options. This database can be very useful to a researcher interested in the field of education. ERIC is typically only available to students, faculty and staff members of the University. A subscription is necessary to search ERIC; however, it can be extremely helpful in researching or even browsing a specific topic. Previous searches can be saved but the researcher must be careful not to let the session sit for too long or else they will time out of the session. The user can also search subjects and top news stories.
