Talk:Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

02/04/06 (Mike LaBrie): I'm not particularly sure who's editing all the information and going back to non-universal, FUNimation-exclusive dub names, but the stuff that I've written is all factually correct. The number of characters and forms is taken from my own counting, which can be found with visual proof over at:

http://www.daizex.com/general/tidbits/sparking_characters.shtml

There are indeed 90 "forms" to choose from, based off of the 56 individual characters.

Also, it seems somewhat redundant to put back in the notation about which characters were "removed" from "Budokai 3" (all with their dub names), when below it there is more specific notation about the characters with more accurate names.

The logical order has also been rearranged.

Furthermore, writing things like "best" and "you can..." is not taking an un-biased stance, and is inappropriate for Wikipedia. As-of Beowulph's entry was the most accurate and aesthetic; I've rolled back to that version with a few minor edits (let's all learn to proof-read! ^_~), and have added in an image of Janenba.

02/05/06 (Mike LaBrie): ... No. Seriously. 72.227.132.62, you keep rolling back changes to factually incorrect information with terrible grammar in the changes. For the love of all things accurate, please stop. I am once again changing to the correct version. Please understand that the information you're providing is not correct, goes against the mission of Wikipedia, and is simply illogical in its order.

02/05/06 (Zarbon): I am doing one minor change and I'd prefer it be left that way. The "best" and "excellent" part should remain considering that it is in fact, the largest roster one. On another note, the pictures I uploaded, I don't want to see in that extensive name list. that's just sloppy. I simply want one thing and one thing alone. I want the Zarbon and Dodoria pictures to be above more and next to each other in the coherent fashion and not below with the names.

02/05/06 (Mike LaBrie): Largest amount does not inherently mean "best"; subjective words like that are simply inappropriate for Wikipedia. If you'd like to write a review of the game for elsewhere, that's where it would be "best" to use words like "best" ^_~. I'm having a hard time understanding the rest of your statements, though!

I've also gone and corrected the number of playable "forms" and "characters" yet again (removing the redundant statement about removed characters which is gone into detail below, with non-dub-exclusive names for the universal audience of Wikipedia). I've linked to a page [1] with actual screen-shots of each and every single last character from a fully-completed version of the game. The number of characters I accurately list is more than what you've listed, so it's not even a case of not having unlocked them all...!

02/05/06 (Zarbon): Alright...I just want one thing untouched. this part: EXCELLENT VIlLAINS such as Zarbon and Dodoria. I want that sentence to remain intact.

02/05/06 (Mike LaBrie): Obviously someone else feels the same way I do (and... ya' know... agrees with the mission statement of Wikipedia!) in that subjective phrasing like that has absolutely no place in the descriptions. Again, if you'd like to write some kind of external review for the game elsewhere, no-one's stopping you from doing so. However, here on Wikipedia, "If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed by others, do not submit it." This applies to all of us.

[edit] Character pictures

The character pictures do not need to be at the top, otherwise all of them (Janemba etc.) would have to go there. Unless validation can be given why the picture is so important that it must go right in the middle of the text block instead of the very conveniant blank space, I'm going to keep it there.

My primary concern is that I think they are being moved due to someone's personal preference for those characters, which violates NPOV. Beowulph 23:53, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

02/08/06 (Mike LaBrie): 72.227.132.62 = Zarbon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:72.227.132.62; see the very bottom). This user has already been warned for violating rules and vandalising pages, as well as having general blocks in the past. We should obviously be un-doing their continued changes, as well as reporting them (agreeing with your other self? Uhh... right...).

  • The pictures should without question be kept at the tail end of the page; where they were (and for some befuddling reason, *keep* being) is an eyesore, taking up space and disrupting the natural flow of the article. Don't read it as spite or malice, but Zarbon, your prospective for the lay-out is just flippin' ghastly. Really and *truly* bad. But you're so set in your ways and closed off from reason that it's becoming a lynchpin to improving the article as a whole. Papacha 18:40, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
I'm going to agree with Papacha, I think it looks much better near the bottom, which also tends to something of an informal standard for galleries. Beowulph 18:43, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dispute

To follow with procedure at Wikipedia:Resolving disputes (specifically, the first step (Wikipedia:Negotiation)) I would like to discuss the current reverts.

IMO, there is no reason for those two particular characters (Zarbon and Dodoria) to be placed in the above text, out of the gallery where the others are, asides from your (User:Zarbon) personal preference for them. If you have any other reasons, I would like to hear it so that it can be debated. Of course, I also invite any other users to chime in as well. Beowulph 03:09, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

It has been that way for quite a while now. And I see no reason for a change. Zarbon and Dodoria are the major additions in this game amongst the others listed. That's what differentiates the additions to this game and the previous ones. On another note, Zarbon and Dodoria are my alltime favorite characters and have been for about 12 years now. I'm just being loyal to what I like. I want them to be centralized in the attention field. The pictures will be made to go upward, that's just a better way of seeing them. Also, the japanese names aren't needed. - Zarbon
Basing an edit on personal preference violates NPOV Zarbon. There are many, many new characters, some who have never been in a DB game, nothing about Zarbon and Dodoria make them any more important. It was also agreed quite a while back that we would be using the original Japanese names in the Dragon Ball articles as a method of standardization. I'm going to change it back until there's a good explanation for the change. Beowulph 18:56, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
I have additionally filed for intervention at Wikipedia:Wikiquette alerts. Beowulph 19:20, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
That particular IP is blocked for now, having reported him to the 3RR board. We'll have to see if anything else comes of it later. Papacha 20:32, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
Zarbon used one of his other IPs to complain about the article being protected due to "limitless amount of bad administration occurring, with falsified information and more importantly, bad japanese naming and incorrect order of details". Not any of his, of course. Sad, but at the same time quite funny, really. 24.162.17.96 01:55, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Camera angles

The game features multiple camera angles in the Options menu, but seem to do nothing. If this is true, I feel it is notable to mention. If not, please let me know what exactly the various options do. --Zeno McDohl 00:52, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Character Section Suggestion

Do you think we can use a chart instead of just a list on the page? It's being used on the Tenkaichi 2 page and looks pretty good. I was thinking something like this:

Returning Characters of the Budokai series
New Characters to the Budokai series
  • Future Trunks w/Armor (Base, SS1, Super Trunks)
  • Majin Buu (Pure Evil)
  • Bojack (Final Form)
  • Janemba (Final Form)

P.S. - I only counted 55 characters and not 56. I could have missed one becuase I had to count the list twice just to relize that SSj and SSj4 Gogeta were listed under one character when they are really two (and no, I did not just mis-count becuase I took the whole list and added # to help keep track of what number I was on). Just pointing this out. // Sasuke-kun27 22:41, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
