Dirt Boss

Dirt Boss is the name of two characters in the Transformers universes. The first Dirt Boss is a Mini-Con first appeared in the Armada line and was called Drift in Japan, the second is a Decepticon who first appeared in the Cybertron line and was called Inch Up in Japan.

In the Transformers: Armada series (called: Transformers: Micron Legend in Japan), Dirt Boss is a Mini-Con. A member of the Race Team (and Road Assault Team when he's evil), he combines with Downshift and Mirage to form the Skyboom Shield.
The Mini-Con Race Team was released in 2002 with a yellow color, while the Road Assault team was released in 2003 with a red color. They appeared in the television series in the yellow color. It was explained in the Dreamwave comics that if a powerful evil Decepticon wields the their combined shield form it can turn the members into the evil Road Assault Team.

The original toy of Dirt Boss was repackaged with a collectible Tiny Tin for the Transformers: Universe toy line. He did not appear in the Transformers: Universe comics.

The original Armada Mini-Con Dirt Boss was repainted packaged with several Deluxe sized Transformers (Landmine and Red Alert as a bonus item. Oddly enough he was never packaged with the Deluxe sized character named Dirt Boss, perhaps because that would have been confusing.
Bio (with Landmine): DIRT BOSS crash-landed on Earth at the same time as his Race Team teammates landed on the Speed Planet. Lost in an alien dimension and separated from his friends by thousands of light years, DIRT BOSS wandered the Earth in search of help. Luckily, LANDMINE detected his MINI-CON®* distress beacon before the DECEPTICONS®*. Recognizing the importance of one more MINI-CON that could be used by MEGATRON™* to create the dangerous SKYBOOM®* Shield, LANDMINE took DIRT BOSS under his protection. He will stop at nothing to protect his MINI-CON friend, help him find his lost comrades, and return him to his own dimension. Amazing robot-to-vehicle figures come with CYBER PLANET KEY, DIRT BOSS Tiny Tin and instructions.
Bio (with Red Alert): The first duty of RED ALERT has always been to defend and heal the sick and injured. It is for this reason that OPTIMUS PRIME®* sent DIRT BOSS to the Speed Planet under his protection (though the way DIRT BOSS sees it, he’s the one doing the protecting). DIRT BOSS has been separated from the other team members of the Road Assault Team – DOWNSHIFT®* and MIRAGE®* - to prevent MEGATRON™* from once again capturing all three of them and acquiring the powerful SKYBOOM®* Shield. His distance from his counterparts, however, does not diminish his desire to protect the weak, and he happily works side by side with RED ALERT to ensure that all those who need protection are made safe. In the Transformers: Cybertron series (called: Transformers: Galaxy Force in Japan) Dirt Boss (called Inch Up in Galaxy Force) is a wild outlaw, a rugged villain of the rough backwaters of the Speed Planet. Those who are fooled by the sheer size of Dirt Boss into thinking he's slow are soon left choking on his exhaust. He lives to pound his opponents into the dust and leave them spinning their wheels - that's if he decides to leave the wheels attached.
Cyber Code Key Info: As one of the citizens of Speed Planet, Dirt Boss is known for two things, and two things only - one is being the meanest, rudest and crankiest driver on the road and the other is that he LOVES to drive, drive and oh yeah, drive some more! It's hard to believe, but like most folks on Speed Planet, Dirt Boss LOVES to stay in vehicle mode! Why walk when you can drive - but watch out! If you cross Dirt Boss on the road, watch your tail lights!!!
Takara Tech Spec: Inch-Up is the most specialized of anyone on Speedia when it comes to travelling bad roads, from bumpy, uneven paths to muddy quagmires. What sets him apart is how he can transform his vehicle mode through Force Chip ignition, dropping his ground clearance and increasing his speed. However, while he has challenged Nitro Convoy numerous times, he has still proven no match for the latter. Will he ever get a chance to win?
In the episode Space Dirt Boss was drafted to the Decepticon side by Ransack and Crumplezone to help defeat Override, although he's mostly out for himself.
In the episode 14, Heroes, Red Alert contacted the Autobots on Earth and asked for Optimus Prime to join then on Velocitron. Ransack and Crumplezone tricked Hot Shot and Dirt Boss into believing that a race between them would determine which of them would be allowed to race Override for the Planet Cup. During the race Ransack and Crumplezone caused a rockslide that burried Hot Shot, but he was saved when Optimus Prime, Vector Prime and Landmine arrived. Although Optimus was upset that Hot Shot had become involved with the locals, but Clocker and Brakedown were eager to help the Autobots. After being unable to obtain the Planet Cup from Override himself, Optimus Prime endorsed Hot Shot's plan to win the cup in a race, with the other Autobots aiding him. Ransack and Crumplezone were contacted by Megatron and were told to keep on eye on things, so they too decided to enter the race, either to win the cup, or at least cause as much damage as they could to the other racers. The qualification round started with Override, Dirt Boss, Ransack, Crumplezone, Optimus Prime, Hot Shot, Red Alert, Landmine, Clocker and Brakedown participating.
Dirt Boss won the second qualifying round for the Great Race in episode 16, Detour, with Hot Shot coming in second and Override coming third.
Although Crumplezone and Ransack left with Megatron after the Great Race, Dirt Boss stayed back on Velocitron, apparently showing that he doesn't wish to associate with the Decepticons.
As the Grand Black Hole continued to enlarge, Primus attempted to seal it. This was witnessed through giant space bridges on Velocitron by Brakedown, Clocker and Dirt Boss, on the planet Animatros by Backstop, Undermine and Brimstone, and on Earth (episode 42, City).
Eventually, he came to the aid of the Autobots later in the series, to deal with Galvatron and his powered-up Decepticons.
When the Autobots attempted to use a gigantic rocket to move the Jungle Planet back into it's orbit, Galvatron attacked damaged the rocket. The Jungle Planet threatened to crash into Cybertron. The combined strength of Scourge, the Autobots, the former Decepticons (Dark Crumplezone, Ransack, Thunderblast and Thundercracker), and their allies from the various planets (including Dirt Boss) were able to combine their strength and move the rocket back into place.
In the final episode of Transformers: Cybertron, called Beginning, the "Speedia 500" race is held to determine the leader of Velocitron, which Hot Shot wins. Dirt Boss comes in second, Ransack third, Dark Crumplezone fourth, Brakedown fifth and Clocker sixth. Override didn't even compete, as she joins the new Space Bridge project lead by Optimus Prime. The name of the race is a reference to the Japanese name of the planet, which is Speedia.
