Dijon (DuckTales)

Dijon is a fictional anthropomorphic dog character featured in the Disney animated series DuckTales. This Arabic stereotype is an obsessive kleptomaniac, stealing items of great value. He usually stuffs them into his loosely fitting clothing, pretending not to notice the constant clanking and jingling which results. He was voiced by Richard Libertini.

Dijon made his appearance known in the theatrical movie, DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, where he serves as a sidekick to the evil wizard Merlock, who is searching for a lamp and the Genie within, which had earlier been stolen by Collie Baba. Over the course of the movie, Genie, trying to stay away from Merlock, convinces Dijon that he should keep the lamp for himself. Dijon does so, and then wishes for Scrooge McDuck's fortune. (He even changes the symbol on Scrooge's Money Bin.) Scrooge and his family break into the Money Bin to try to retrieve the lamp, but Merlock gets to it first and makes several terrible wishes, among them having Dijon turned into a pig for turning against him. By the end of the film, though, after Scrooge wishes everything was back to normal, Dijon is also turned back to normal, and he proceeds to steal enough Coins in the vault to fill up his pants. The movie ends on Scrooge chasing Dijon through Duckburg as the credits start to roll while yelling, "Somebody! Stop those pants!"

Dijon then appeared on the series itself, this time working for Flintheart Glomgold, in the episode "Attack of the Metal Mites". Here, Glomgold hires Dijon to infest Scrooge's monetary holdings with Metal Mites, insects that can eat anything metal, ranging from coins to the GizmoDuck suit. Here, a running gag is established in the form of Dijon having trouble saying Glomgold's name right.
Dijon's last known appearance was in the show's two-part series finale, "The Golden Goose". After disturbing Scrooge at a bazaar somewhere in the Middle East by pretending that he is now a beggar, Dijon hides in a holy shrine, where he meets his long-lost moral brother, Poupon, who is a member of a holy sect responsible for guarding the Golden Goose, a seemingly inanimate goose that has the ability to change anything to gold. Dijon pretends to give up his thieving ways, but is unable to control his urge to "borrow" the Goose. He is then chased around by the Beagle Boys, whom Glomgold has sent to steal the Goose; this chase leads to Dijon accidentally losing it in Scrooge's cargo. Scrooge brings the Goose home and discovers what it can do. Meanwhile, Poupon discovers that Dijon lost the Goose, and they travel to Duckburg to get it back before it can set off its cursed transformation. Unfortunately, by the time they arrive, the Beagle Boys have already stolen the Goose from Scrooge and have even turned Huey, Dewey and Louie into gold statues. Along with Scrooge and Launchpad McQuack, Dijon and Poupon find Glomgold and the Goose inside an abandoned factory. Unfortunately, during the scuffle that follows, the Goose comes alive and starts flying around, turning everything to gold. Shortly afterward, the goose begins molts its gold skin off, turning the entire world to gold. Fortunately, Dijon manages to nab the Goose, and helps Scrooge and Launchpad bring it back to the temple where it belongs, thus saving the world. The episode ends with Dijon stealing something from Scrooge again, and Scrooge chases Dijon through Duckburg again.
