Dave Strader

Dave Strader is a veteran NHL broadcaster who joined FSN Florida and the Florida Panthers as the play-by-play voice beginning with the 2005-06 NHL season. Joining Hockey Hall of Famer and color analyst Denis Potvin in FSNs broadcast booth for exclusive television coverage.

He has been married to his wife Colleen for 29 years, together they have three children, Christopher (23) and fraternal twins Casey and Trevor (17).
A graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Strader earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies while working at the college radio station for four years. He and his wife of 29 years, Colleen, have three sons: Christopher (23) and twins Casey and Trevor (17).

[edit] Adirondack Red Wings (1979-1985)
Strader began his broadcasting career with the Adirondack Red Wings (AHL) calling radio play-by-play and working as the teams Director of Public Relations from 1979-1985. He was twice honored by the New York Broadcasters Association for excellence in play-by-play broadcasting and earned the Ken McKenzie Award as the AHLs top PR professional in 1984.
[edit] Detroit Red Wings (1985-1996)
Strader was the television play-by-play voice of the Detroit Red Wings from 1985-1996. Joining Mickey Redmond. He was replaced by Ken Daniels and moved to ESPN.
[edit] National Broadcasts (1996-2004)
Strader served as the play-by-play announcer on 60 ESPN national NHL telecasts, as well as providing play-by-play for the NHL All-Star Game and Stanley Cup Finals for the NHL International broadcasts. During his career he also served as play-by-play announcer for select NHL regional telecasts for FOX, The WNBA and National Basketball Development League games for ESPN.

In 2005 he joined Denis Potvin in the booth for Florida Panthers broadcasts on Sun Sports and FSN Florida.
[edit] NHL on Versus (2006-present)
While it his main dedication is to the Florida Panthers and Sun Sports, in the 2006 offseason it was announced by Versus that they were hiring Strader to call National Games as a play-by-play analyst.
