A word is a unit of language that carries meaning and consists of one or more morphemes which are linked more or less tightly together. Typically a word will consist of a root or stem and zero or more affixes. Words can be combined to create phrases, clauses and sentences. A word consisting of two or more stems joined together is called a compound. -From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A word is something that we can all use, but none of us understand. What is a word? One cannot define a word without using more words, so confusion will always arise. A word can carry out any function. Words are weapons, yet also peacemakers. Words do not seem as though they could do anything. Although sometimes, words can make all the difference. A world without words would be a world without anything. Without using words, none would never be able to describe what they have accomplished or what they have done. Even when one sees a painting, it brings words to the mind. All of us use different words to describe the same thing. Any word can be spoken in millions of ways, in millions of languages. How do we choose which word to use? That is a question that will never be answered. It is a question that will never be understood. It is a question consisting of just eight words. But, with eight simple words one can create new thoughts in someones mind. Thoughts about words. About a concept that will never be understood.
