It has a population of 90,000.
Damavand is an ancient and historic city. The name Damavand appears in Sassanid texts (as Dunbawand), and Parthian remains have been found there. The city fell to Arab Muslim invaders in 651 CE.
It is close to Iran's tallest peak Mount Damavand, where Ferdowsi mentions abundantly in the shahnameh.
The city has relatively cool weather year round.
Damavand is rich in historical heritage. It contains 37 historical tombs (Imamzadeh), 27 castle ruins, 23 traditional houses of architectural significance, 18 traditional bath houses, 6 caves, 5 historical bridges, 3 historical mosques, and 3 caravanserais.
Damavand country side includes: Oureh,Dashtehmazar,Ahmadabad,Cheshmeh Aalla, Mosha,Dashta, Rouhafza, Mahaleh-Darvish,Tizab,Tar Lake,Abesard,Gilavand.
Damavand's sights and entertainment :Ab-Ali Skiing slope is located in North-East of Mosha.From North of Mosha and Amamzadeh Hasham, there is the possibility of paragliding too. Oureh Dashtemazar, Cheshmeh Aalla and Mosha speak a kind of dialect of Mazandaran(Mazandarani).
Damavand is the tallest mountain in Iran.The other name is "Danbavand".Its height is 5671(meters).It's located in Mazandaran province(and the nearest city to it is Larijan),Iran,Middle east,West Asia.It's 66 km far from Tehran(the capital)and it's a calm volcano. Access Roads:There two ways to get in Damavand From Firouzkooh Road via Gilavand loacated in South of Damavand and From Haraz road via Mosha located in North of Damavand.
