hello Will. How is it going?1028 23:40, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

To respond to me, first, click on the User talk:1028 button right here. Then, press the "edit this page" button. Next, tpye in anything you want to say. Finally, it will be on my talk page for me to see.1028 00:32, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

You know what, now that you're complemeting my user page, I might stop heckling you. I'll agree to stop these attacks, but I might throw out an insult once in a while. You really know how to deal with people. I will still not change my mind about the Chuck E. Cheese article, but since it's off the site, you can say about it what you please. So, let's talk a little more peacefully and be friends, if you want to. -Crisspy

Sure. Thanks. I hope that you can keep contributing good information to the site. Academic Challenger 22:00, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Oh, and I want you to know that on my user page I deleted the stuff about you being a loser and forming the ACAR club. -Crisspy

Thanks. By the way, I fixed some formatting on the new article you made. Academic Challenger 22:48, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Which one? -Crisspy

Jay-J. Academic Challenger 22:50, 6 May 2006 (UTC)\

Muchas Gracias!! Wanna talk about anything? -Crisspy

It seems like you are really interested in different foods around the world. I haven't edited articles on this topic much but I am also interested in a variety of foods, particularly Indian and Chinese food. Do some people make fun of you for liking more different types of food than most other people? Academic Challenger 23:05, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, but you don't have to be sympathetic about it. I'm mostly made fun of for the difference of music that appeals to me, especially Indian-style music. Like, I'll play something for my friends and they'll ask dumb questions like, "how come this music doesn't have words?" I mean, I personally like it sometimes if music has words, but I find it more peaceful and relaxing with just instruments. What kind of music do you like? Have any food questions? -Crisspy

So are you and Academic Challenger friends now? 1028 02:37, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

I like Indian music as well. My mom listens to Hindu chanting a lot so I've grown up with it. Mainly I listen to classical and rock music, but I enjoy almost everything besides rap and heavy metal. I also think its annoying when people ask why music doesn't have words. Academic Challenger 05:58, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

To 1028: Yes. He's actually a pretty cool guy. Just talk to him and see what he has to say. To Academic Challenger: Do you have a favorite classical composer? Mine would probably be Ravi Shankar, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, or Antonio Carlos Jobim or Heitor Villa-Lobos. The latter two could be considered Bossa Nova, but they have written very classical compositions as well. I also agree on the subject about rap and heavy metal being disturbing, mainly because it's so distorted, foul, and it lacks complexity. Sure, you can say some artists have thought outside the box in particular respects, but that can only be at most a handful of musicians. -Crisspy

Sorry I didn't respond for a while. I did not notice that you had returned until now. Mozart is definitely my favorite classical composer. I tend to enjoy most music from the 1700s and 1800s, but I also enjoy many of the creative twentieth century composers, such as Alan Hovhannes and Sergei Prokofiev. I like Villa Lobos too, though I haven't listened to a lot of his music. To me the melody is very important in music, so I don't like a lot of the less melodic twentieth century composers. I think that in all genres of music, whether it is classical, jazz, rock or whatever, there are a lot of experimental artists, and sometimes the experiments sound horrible and other times they can expand the possibilities of what music can do. Some of the earliest examples of good experiments were Mozart and Haydn helping to create the symphony concept. Academic Challenger 05:18, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

The melodies are the seams of songs to me. Without them, music, like a poorly-torn sweater, could fall apart. But I also think that rhythm is important, but if you get too much melody, too much rhythm, too much creative, or too mathematical, the music is likely to be bad. In my eyes, to be a great musician is to have a feel for the music, and also be able to know the technical obstacles, like scales. Without experimentation, music would eventually lose favor and forever be the same. Let's start with a concept like blues. Blues used to be the same old, southern-style, plantation working songs, until the twelve bar of blues originated. Then, pianists and guitarists alike expiremented using more suspended, diminished, third, and seventh chords. Pretty soon, you have a whole new distinct genre called jazz. Then so many subgenres hatched from the mother, so to speak, including swing, bebop, cool jazz, and eventually rock, which is even more distinct. This is why music fascinates me to this day. -Crisspy

I agree. Rhythm is also very important in music. Even when I don't enjoy listening to someone experimenting with music, I'm still glad they are doing it because experimenting is necessary. I also agree about musicians needing to feel the music as well as being technically good at it. Do you play any instruments? Actually playing instruments and having to prepare for performances (I did piano recitals and was in the high school band playing clarinet) gave me even more appreciation of what professional musicians go through when they make recordings or give concerts. I have heard about how jazz genres evolved from blues, although some of them had other influences. Classical music also has a lot of genres. It's a mixture of influences from church music and folk music performed by and for both rich people and poor people, and then a lot of new instruments were invented. In the last 300 years composers have just kept experimenting with different rhythmic and melodic expressions, and of course each European country has their own style of music. Academic Challenger 07:10, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Well, like I said on my user page, I do have experience with guitar. But I can also play bass, drums, bongos, and both electric and acoustic pianos. I hope to get a tabla set made in India. In my earlier years, I played cello, starting from about three years old, but because of its shallow aptitude for only classical music, I switched to guitar. But this does not mean I am insulting the cello. It has such a seducing sound, and you need to observe and absorb its unique personality, as an instrument. You must also practice for quite some time before you have even the remotest skill to play for others. I am quite impressed you have played in piano recitals and clarinet in band. But about classical music, Mozart, believe it or not, was like the hip-hop of Austria at his time. First of all, he was one of the pioneers of writing music in German instead of Italian, which caused an uproar throughout Europe. And second, he baffled people at only eight years old with his remarkable musical genius. In terms of genres, I think classical music could have started because people wanted something more melodic and calmer than drums. And so this came with string and woodwind instruments, which led to baroque, and then with brass and reeds, which later led to symphonies, and sure enough to our classical music today. And about European regional difference, it would be quite hard not to distinguish an Andalusian Fandango to an Irish Jig, which can both be accepted as classical music. And so many music types of the world have been influenced by their neighboring countries, like Spain and Morocco, and India and Pakistan.

P.S. Can I delete the insults we exchanged? -Crisspy

Yes, delete the insults. I agree that the cello has an amazing sound. You are right that it is one of the few instruments which can almost never be played outside classical music. The violin, for example, is sometimes played in rock songs, a lot of country songs and there are even some jazz violinists. In some ways Mozart was like the equivalent of hip-hop. It would be really funny if in 200 years some pop star was considered a musical genious. Of course, as with some composers at the time, some underground musician whom few people have ever hard may gain a major following after his death. However, things are very different now because of recordings. I have heard that many instrumentalists were not as good in the 1700s, so if we heard a recording of Mozart conducting or something, we might not be as impressed as we think. The least recent recording I have heard is from about 1900. You are right about musicians from other countries borrowing from each other. I think that in many countries they maintain some unique aspects of their style, though recently this is declining. Academic Challenger 22:08, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

Sorry for the slow responding. I have currently been very busy. The violin was a major instrument in various folk bands, and, as you said, country bands. Stephane Grappeli was also a jazz violinist. Many contemporary composers could be turning 300 today, since they were widely known and respected after their death. Are you a follower of any specific electronica? jazz? country? latin? -Crisspy

[edit] Chuck E. Cheese

- Reads this clip from the Chuck E. Cheese article. It is funny, but I did not do it. - - "Like many corporations, Chuck E. Cheese has faced lawsuits throughout its history. Recently, the Orkel vs. Pizza Time Inc. Case reached national attention in the U.S. A child rode a ride where one would pedal a bicycle that would then go upward toward the ceiling. The child tried to climb down the ride and got a serious head wound in the process. His parents sued for $15 million, and settled the case out of court. Also, the show Jackass involved themselves with a Philadelphia Area Restaurant by creating a "naked slide" in which Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Ryan Dunn, and an employed female model went into a slide fully clothed, but came out the bottom only in underwear. Chuck E. Cheese sued Jackass and the clip was unaired." 1028 02:33, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ingco Crew

Hi, I don't actually know Ingco Crew's music, but I do know about reggaeton. I found Ingco Crew's page on List of reggaeton artists and producers, and added [[Category:Reggaeton musicians]] to them and a number of other artists. eae 20:43, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

I discovered reggaeton by accident one day, when I was sick of all my old music and was looking for something new on the radio. I was scanning the stations and stopping when I heard something new that I liked, and that's how I found reggaeton. Since then, I've bought a couple albums, downloaded plenty of mp3's, found an online stream ([1]), and started learning Spanish :)

Are you from/in DR? And do you know where/how I could hear some of Ingco Crew's stuff, being in the US? Also, I didn't put the part about them being a quintet, that was already there, I just added wikilinks and the one category. In case you copy-pasted that stuff, you should rewrite it in your own words, so that it doesn't infringe on copyrights. eae 01:19, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

I have Calle 13, Don Omar presents Reggaeton Latino, Speedy - Nueva Generacion, and Vico C - Desahogo. I also have a bunch of mp3's. No hablo español, hablo inglés, ruso y francés. En espanol, solo sé algunas palabras. eae 18:25, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

I like a lot of classic rock, blues, heavy metal, rap, some punk, but not pop, country, alternative, emo, don't really enjoy classical music usually either. I like Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Stones, Cream, Queen, John Lee Hooker, BB King, Metallica, Dr. Dre, E-40, Snoop Dogg, Bad Religion, Offspring, Primus, Rush, a few other bands here and there. There's very little modern music I like though, which limits my options, and causes me to run out of fresh stuff to listen to periodically, which forces me to discover new genres. What about you? eae 17:58, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

If this is you, you need to stop defacing users' pages with "I AM GAY" or some nonsense thereof. Using an anon IP won't save you, you can be blocked for vandalism. See Wikipedia's policy on vandalism. Cheers. — Nathan (talk) 20:39, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Campaigning

Campaigning for votes on Wikipedia is very strongly discouraged, especially in Requests for adminship. I'm going to revert your edits to peoples' talk pages. Mak (talk) 05:11, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Alternate names

I noted that your list of alternate names are redirects from the Main (Article) space to your user page. This is not allowed. See Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#Redirects. If you would like to use an alternate signature you can pipe the link like this [[User:Crisspy|Crisspy]]. [edit] Adminship

Most certainly, and that is what I would advise you to do. The thing about being an admin is that it takes a lot of time and effort to know all the policies you need to, to get all the edits needed (which depends on the voters. I usually support somewhere around 1,500 edits), but you also have to have the trust of the community, because it's such an important job (you only joined on March 31st, so that hasn't given us a lot of time to get to know you ;). I meant what I said, you do seem like a good editor, and I would have no problems supporting you again at a latter date. Make sure you read up on WP:Policy, and go out there to edit! Do this and you'll make a great user!!

Yours, Thε Halo Θ 17:14, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Adminship

I am sorry that I could not comment on your RFA. I was on vacation, but I have now returned. I am sure that you will be a good candidate for adminship in a few months. I also had a failed self-nomination for adminship, about 4 months after creating my account, before becoming an admin about a year after discovering Wikipedia. Keep up the good work. Academic Challenger 02:35, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Alert

I blocked him. I'm not sure what happened, but fortunately he stopped vandalizing before he was blocked. However, since his user page said he was indefinitely blocked, that means he should be. Thanks. Academic Challenger 22:10, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Alert!

You do realise that I'm not an admin, right?

The vandalism templates range from test1 (first warning) to test4 (last warning). Users have to go through the warnings, except in cases of blatant vandalism, sockpuppetry, impersonators, etc. If the user vandalises beyond a test4 (or in the exceptions I mentioned), please report vandals to WP:AIV and an admin will deal with it. — Nathan (talk) / 22:46, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your Block

I am sorry to find out that you have been blocked for being a master of soc puppets on Wikipedia. Apparently this has been confirmed by a request for check user. If you come back under another name, I hope that you stick to writing about music and food and don't resume, your, um, less constructive activities. Academic Challenger 01:07, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Request for unblock

This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | unblock | contribs) asked to be unblocked, but one or more administrators has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators can also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). This unblock request continues to be visible. Do not replace this message with another unblock request.

Request reason: "I have never done anything harmful under user:Crisspy. My so-called "sockpuppets" were merely other accounts I created for different purposes, and were harmless and non-vandalistic except in my failed attempt to become an admin. You may leave all my sockpuppets blocked, and you have my word that if you unblock me, I will never again do anything harmful to wikipedia. And if i do, you may once again block me indefinitely. You may take a look at my sockpuppets', 1, 2, and 3, contribs if you want to, to see they have only been helpful to me on My RFA, which was, like I said, unsuccessful by a margin of about forty votes short on the supporting side. Sure, I did some harmless vandalism on other sockpuppets, 1 and 2, but I have done nothing wrong as this account except create those accounts. If you must know, the only vandalism I have ever engaged in as Crisspy was an insult battle on a talk page, and I even set the record straight with him and became friends."

Decline reason: "Blocks are per person, not having done anything under this account is of no consequence."

Administrators: This template should be removed when the block has expired, or after 2 days in the case of blocks of 1 week or longer.

[edit] ALRIGHT, FINE!

Now I know the opinions of the administrators of me. If you do not want to unblock me, then I will leave.

Goodbye, everyone. For the last time, this is Crisspy. El gRiNgO 22:33, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
