The family one-the-separate was over long time the most powerful family in the Eifel. In the year 1460 she was raised from the emperor into the realm count conditions. In the year 1488 the properties of the family were divided. The Dietrich III. used its sons Johann, Konrad and Wilhelm as new rulers. Johann formed the line Manderscheid Blankenheim Gerolstein. William the line Manderscheid Kail. Konrad (Cuno) the line Manderscheid Schleiden. As a last countess in one-the-separate worked Augusta of one the separating bright home. The master seat was the lock in Oberkail. By this surge tank Oberkail became for some hundred years an important Eifel place. The documents and documents carried forward at that time on the escape (e.g. possession documents and commercial documents) are today in the original in the national museum in Prague. In the seventies these documents on microfilm were filmed and a copy are today in archives in Brauweiler with Cologne. A scientific evaluation of the documents ever took place neither in Prague nor in Germany.
