Congreve (horse)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Congreve (1924-1944) was an Argentine Thoroughbred racehorse in the 1930s. A grandson of Tracery who was sired by Rock Sand, Congreve is one of the top sires in Argentine racing history [1], and is best known in North America for siring Kayak II, who became the career-earnings leader in the United States in the 1940s.
Congreve sired four Argentine Derby winners: Ix (1935), Médicis (1936), Embrujo (1939), and La Mission (1940). The 1951 winner, Yatasto, was two generations removed from Congreve.
