A Jolly Christmas From Frank Sinatra (1957) |
Come Fly With Me (1958) |
This Is Sinatra Volume 2 (1958) |
Come Fly with Me is an album by American singer Frank Sinatra, released in 1958.
This was Sinatra's first collaboration with arranger/conductor Billy May. It was designed as a musical trip around the world. The title track was written at Sinatra's request.
EMI producer George Martin (EMI had recently purchased Capitol Records) mentioned in his autobiography All You Need is Ears that he visited the Capitol Tower and witnessed the recording sessions. Everything went well until Sinatra was shown the mockup of the album cover which he expressed an intense dislike for as it looked like a commercial tie-in with TWA.
