Coldharbour Lane
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Coldharbour Lane is a road in South London that leads south-westwards from Camberwell to Brixton, with the part in Brixton being particulary lively with a lot of shops, bars and restaurants being near the market. The first part of Coldharbour Lane, running from Denmark Hill in Camberwell SE5 to Brixton (the other end is in SW2), marks part of the boundary between Lambeth and Southwark boroughs. The main entrance to King's College Hospital car park is on Caldecot Road off Coldharbour Lane.
With Acre Lane, it forms the A2217. Midway between its two ends it passes Loughborough Junction railway station. It was formerly known as Camberwell Lane. It is almost entirely within the London Borough of Lambeth although the boundary with Southwark runs along part of it near Denmark Hill and Sir John Major's childhood home.
John Major famously had to move here as a child (to the sort of place that is not very suitable for children with asthma). He later became a Lambeth Coucillor and went on to become Prime Minister.
