Cliff Couser
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Clifford Couser, born May 18, 1971 in St. Louis, MO, is a heavyweight boxer. Nicknamed "The Black Bull" and often "Twin Tyson" for his resemblance to Mike Tyson, Couser is a entertaining journeyman fighter who fought several contenders from his era.
Couser is best known for his performance in the HBO film, Don King: Only in America, in which he played the role of Mike Tyson. Couser was able to effectively emulate Tyson's demeanor and ring persona, and received kudos for his performance. Unfortunately he was unable to emulate Tyson in the professional ring.
Couser turned pro in 1993 and has been a prototypical heavyweight journeyman despite his size and menacing presence and build. Couser has had his shined occasionally, but usually loses to favored fighters. He's been beaten by Clifford Etienne, Lance Whitaker, Malcolm Tann, and Vladimir Virchis. He has had some success, particularly earlier in his career, when he beat James Tillis and Jorge Luis Gonzalez, but most of his victories have come against virtual unknowns.
