Cleavant Derricks (songwriter)

Cleavant Derricks is a gospel songwriter with over 300 songs to his credit, and should not be confused with the film and theater (his son) actor, Cleavant Derricks.
Reverend Cleavant Derricks (May 13, 1910, Chattanooga, Tennessee - 1977) was a pastor and choir director at a number of black Baptist churches. He is best known as a songwriter. Some of his songs include Just a Little Talk With Jesus, When He Blessed My Soul, We'll Soon Be Done With Troubles and Trials, and When God Dipped His Love in My Heart. He was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
