Classics selected by Brian Wilson is a unique compilation of songs by The Beach Boys and released through Capitol Records in mid-2002. Its main attraction is that it was compiled by the band's creative genius, Brian Wilson, that February, with the addition of a new recording "California Feelin' ", not by The Beach Boys, but Wilson and his live band.
Wilson's choices tend to favor his ballads, from "Surfer Girl" and "The Warmth Of The Sun" to his Pet Sounds and Smile classics. Later song selections include "Til I Die" and "Sail On, Sailor".
A different spin on a Beach Boys compilation album, Classics selected by Brian Wilson briefly made the US charts, reaching #159.
