Christopher Turk

Dr. Christopher Duncan Turk is a fictional character played by Donald Faison on the American sitcom Scrubs.

Chris Turk is J.D.'s best friend and former college roommate, a diabetic, a resident surgeon, and is married to Carla. His college fraternity was Theta Omega (ΘΩ). Turk first left home for college in 1993/1994, which probably places his birthday somewhere around 1976. According to Turk, this was a very stressful time for him, so he attended therapy for a few months and then moved on to group a couple of years later. In college Turk had a girlfriend, Rosanna, to whom he secretly started talking again during the fourth season. This put a severe strain on his marriage with Carla for awhile.

Turk has at least two brothers, Kevin (played by D.L. Hughley) and Jabbari (formerly Bob). He also has a sister. In My Old Man, Turk says that his mother has never liked any of his girlfriends (refering to one of them as "The Big Easy"), and in My Brother, Where Art Thou? he reveals that while the members of his family are seemingly dysfunctional, they are very close to each other.

Although he hangs out with stereotypical surgeons (known as "the jocks" of the hospital), like The Todd, and is considerably more athletic than J.D., Turk shares J.D.'s geeky/goofy humour; for example they both enjoy dancing 'the robot'. J.D. likes to tell people that Turk's middle name is Duncan because his father liked doughnuts, while Turk tells people that his cousin is Tiger Woods. He and J.D. own a stuffed yellow Labrador named Rowdy which they treat like a live dog, giving him baths, speaking to him as if he can answer back etc. When they have a robot, they will name it 2Pac (formerly Gizmo, after Turk said this is what he would name his seeing-eye-dog, should he go blind from his diabetes ). J.D. was Turk's best man, and, according to Turk, is the prime candidate for godfather of his and Carla's child.

Carla caught Turk's eye almost immediately and she soon agreed to go out with him. They first slept together in "My Two Dads" and confessed their love to each other later in the season. In "My Overkill", their relationship was shaken when Carla found out about Cox's feelings for her and Turk's knowledge of them, but she soon learned to trust him again. In season 2, there was drama in their relationship once again when Carla became very uncertain after Turk's proposal, but she eventually accepted. They then spent the whole of season 3 planning their wedding, which happened, albeit with a few problems, in the season finale.
In season 4, Turk and Carla's marriage became strained, when Carla caught Turk talking with an ex-girlfriend. Carla, while separated from him, got drunk and kissed JD. But Turk and Carla soon mended their relationship, agreeing to try for a baby in the season finale. They spent most of season five trying to conceive, finally succeeding in ep 5.16.

- His cell phone number is (916) CALL-TUR(225-5887), although he hopes that people will dial the 'K' anyway. At first, fans who dialed the phone number found themselves connected to an actual phone located on set. Several fans reported many cast and crew members picking up the phone and having live conversations with them (Zach Braff accounted for this in his own blog). The phone soon became overloaded with calls and callers were re-directed to a voice mail message from Turk or Carla announcing that Turk was out, but would be back at the start of the next season. This voicemail has recently been changed to one including Zach Braff plugging a website and movie.
- At college, Turk completed a minor in Psychology ("Her Story II")
- Turk apparently has a foot fetish, as is shown in His Story II with his inner monologue line: "Oh, great, my new scary boss and her amazing chest, butt and feet.... I love feet."
- Turk strongly belives that mermaids are real, despite what Carla says. This came up in a conversation between them in "My Best Friend's Wedding."
- In the episode 'My Cake' Turk is diagnosed with type 2 diabetes
- Even though he's engaged in premarital sex with Carla and other girlfriends, Turk seems to be a devout Christian and can sometimes be seen quoting the Bible ("My Own Personal Jesus") and talking to God.
