"Chocolate" is a slow pop–dance song written by British songwriters Karen Poole and Johnny Douglas for Minogue's ninth album Body Language (2003). The song was produced by Douglas and received a mixed reception from music critics. The song was released as the third single in the summer of 2004 (see 2004 in music) and reached the top ten in the United Kingdom, where it became Minogue's twenty-seventh top ten single. It reached the top twenty in Australia and Italy, and the top thirty in Ireland.
The song was one of Minogue's personal favourites from the album, and the single release featured the previously unreleased song "City Games" as a B-side. The song was one of the first demoed for the album and was included on the fake City Games album track listing which surfaced on the internet in 2003.
"Chocolate" was supposed to be the lead single from Body Language (2003), but was scrapped in favour of "Slow".[citation needed]

[edit] Music video
"Chocolate" featured a music video that was directed by Dawn Shadforth and was filmed on June 6 and 7, 2004 in London, England, with rehearsals six days before filming began. The video features the songs single edit and Minogue performing several jazz dance numbers in a studio-theater with back-up dancers. The video is a tribute to the MGM musicals of the 1950s, and saw Minogue reunite with choreographer Michael Rooney whom she had previously worked with on the video for her hit single "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" (2001).
The video was a minor hit on music channels. Although it could not match the success of its predecessors the video was a top twenty hit in the UK, reaching number eleven on the TV airplay chart and number thirteen on MTV's Europe Top 20 countdown.

[edit] Chart performance
On June 28, 2004, "Chocolate" was released in the United Kingdom. The song became Minogue's twenty-seventh top ten single when it debuted at number six on the singles chart, and spent a total of seven weeks in the top seventy-five. Outside of the UK, the song was a modest success. It reached number fourteen in Italy, and charted well outside the top twenty in France, Germany and Ireland. Airplay was limited and the song was unable to break into the top twenty in many territories, despite of this, "Chocolate" remains as Kylie's biggest hit from the album Body Language in Mexico, reaching #12 on the Top 100 Airplay and #1 on MTV's Top 20, making the album reappear on the charts and being certified gold.
On July 12, 2004, "Chocolate" was released in the Australia to minimal success only reaching number fourteen on the singles chart. It became Minogue's first single to chart outside the top ten since "Your Disco Needs You" in 2001.
