Charmed Season Summaries offers plot overviews on the major story and character arcs from each season of the television series Charmed. The summaries are divided into the following sections: the season premiere, demons and witchcraft, normal lives, romance, a major turning point in the year, and the season finale.

[edit] Premiere
The series begins with sisters Prudence Halliwell, Piper Halliwell, and Phoebe Halliwell reuniting in their childhood home, a manor in San Francisco, California. At this point, mild-tempered Piper serves as mediator between the hard-working Prue and directionless Phoebe. They become the Charmed Ones, the most powerful good witches of all time, after Phoebe finds the family's Book of Shadows in the attic and reads the first spell. Prue gains the power to move objects with her mind, Piper is able to freeze time, and Phoebe receives the ability to see the future. While Prue and Piper are freaked out by how these newfound powers will change their lives, Phoebe is excited by the prospect.
[edit] Demons and witchcraft
Over the course of the year, the Halliwells vanquish numerous warlocks and demons as they learn to cast spells, do curses, and make potions. Their powers also grow stronger. Prue eventually learns to channel her power through her hands as well as her eyes, Piper hones her freezing skills, and Phoebe acquires visions of the past. Phoebe also learns martial arts since she's the only sister without an active power to defend herself with. The sisters summon a late relative for the first time when they revive Melinda Warren, the first witch in their family, to help them defeat a powerful warlock. They also time travel for the first time and visit the 1970s, where they encounter their mother Patty (who was killed by a water demon when Phoebe was a toddler) and Grams (who bound their powers as children and dies roughly six months before the series starts).
Some of the major foes that they face include: Rex and Hannah, a pair of warlocks working undercover at Bucklands Auction House as Prue's coworkers; Matthew Tate, the warlock who caused their ancestor Melinda to be burned at the stake in 1692; Barbas, the demon of fear; Darklighters, the sworn enemies of Whitelighters (guardian angels for good witches); and the Grimlocks, demons who use the auras of good people to choke them to death. Prue, Piper, and Phoebe briefly encounter their father Victor when three shapeshifters attempt to use him to take the Book of Shadows out of the manor. Finally, the Halliwells learn of the existence of the spiritual nexus in their basement and the shadow (also known as Woogyman) who dwells there. The spell that defeats the Woogy is the first spell they add to the Book of Shadows.
[edit] Normal lives
As previously stated, Prue starts work as an appraiser at Bucklands Auction House shortly after quitting her job at a museum. She will go through a series of bosses who don't understand the "family emergencies" that cause her to leave work on a regular basis. Supernatural items frequently enter the Halliwells' lives via Bucklands, particularly the amulet the brings Matthew Tate into their lives. Piper, a chef who dreams of owning her own restaurant one day, was hired as head chef, but is promoted and serves as the over-worked manager at local restaurant Quake, after the quick departure of the manager who hired her. Her tenure there goes a long way towards developing her backbone and teaching her to stand up for herself. As for Phoebe, who dropped out of college, she hops from job to job without finding anything that sparks her interest. She also begins to work out her contentious relationship with Prue.

The sisters get involved in various romantic relationships over the course of the year. Prue has an on-and-off relationship with her old high school sweetheart, Inspector Andy Trudeau. Their relationship is complicated since Prue feels she can't trust him with her secret and Andy does not understand why she keeps turning up in his unsolved cases (all of which involve supernatural beings). Prue casts a Truth spell to find out what would happen if Andy learned her secret and discovers that he wouldn't want to be with her if she was a witch. His memory of the confession is erased by the spell. Meanwhile, Piper falls for a warlock, student, and ghost before meeting the love of her life: Leo Wyatt, the sisters' Whitelighter (who's forbidden to fall in love with one of his charges). And Phoebe's old flame Clay from New York comes back to San Francisco, bringing with him an evil force the sisters must contend with.
[edit] Turning point
Before the year ends, a reporter witnesses Prue using her power and gains video footage of Piper's freezing ability. He's killed by a demon before he can expose the sisters - this marks the first time their secret almost goes out in the open. During this same adventure, Andy Trudeau finally learns the truth about the Halliwells and begins to cover for them at the police station. He keeps his partner Inspector Darryl Morris out of the loop and refuses to answer Inspector Rodriguez's questions regarding the sisters. It's later revealed that Rodriguez is actually a demon attempting to kill the Charmed Ones.

Rodriguez teams up with Tempus, a powerful demon with the ability to manipulate time. Tempus rewinds the day each time Rodriguez fails in his mission to kill all three sisters. Each time the day restarts, only Rodriguez remembers what happened earlier so he can learn how to kill another sister. Eventually, Phoebe notices the time loop due to her premonition power and alerts her sisters to the problem. She also has a vision of Andy dying in the manor, so Prue warns him to stay away and proclaims her love for him. But Andy does not listen and stands watch outside the manor. In the final time loop, Andy notices Rodriguez's demon nature before the attack and is killed protecting the sisters. His spirit comes to Prue and tells her to end the time loop even though it means his death will be permanent. Prue tearfully agrees and says the spell that defeats Tempus.
By the end of the episode, Piper has quit her stressful job as manager of Quake and Phoebe has decided to do more research into their magical heritage. Prue, not surprisingly, will be mourning Andy for some time. But she has hope for the future and initiates the traditional season-ending image by magically closing the front door to the Manor.

With a killer start for the series premiere, The Charmed One's are faced with guilt and adversity and must overcome the conflict of loss in order to gain back what has been taken. The magic, the spells, and even the demons become more intense as the Prue, Piper, and Phoebe Halliwell continue their destiny through another year. Actions that will be taken are impressed in future happenings, a passion for art is discovered, and even music and magic mix for the first time. And for the second time, Prue closes the door in the finale. Much more is revealed in the Season 2 of Charmed and only time can tell you that it's more than just exciting, fun, and intense, it's the best we've seen of the Charmed One's so far....

This season picks off a month after Piper and Leo departed for the Elders. This season brings love, magic, and death. During this season the girls powers grow. Phoebe is the first to get her new active power. She is now able to levitate. Piper gets her new power near the end of the season, which is the power to blow objects up. This season Phoebe befriends the great demon Belthazor/Cole Turner. Cole works as an A.D.A. He also works for the demonic Triad, trying to kill the Charmed Ones. He even tries going back in time to destroy their family line. Phoebe and Cole eventually fall in love. She fakes his death, after she was supposed to vanquish him. He later returns and is accepted by her sisters. Prue gets married to a warlock through a Dark Ritual. Piper and Phoebe are turned evil. They kill Leo, but they break the dark connection and become good again. Piper and Leo get married. Patty returns for Piper's wedding, as a present from the Elders. Prue's astral self crashes the party, but it is salvaged and it is beautiful, thanks to chime music, and orbs by Leo. But to a great season, as brings a great loss. Phoebe and Cole's relationship was progessing, until a powerful demon named Raynor cast a spell on him, making him kill a good witch. Phoebe destroys the power-stripping potion for him. This ends their relationship. Phoebe gets turned into a Banshee and Prue turns into a dog. Phoebe realises her love for Cole is too strong and wants him back. In the finale the girls face off against a demon called Shax who is after Dr. Griffins. He almost kills Prue and Piper. Leo heals them. Phoebe casts a spell to repel Shax. Phoebe also creates a potion to break Cole's dark spell. She then goes to the underworld. It works, as Prue and Piper are exposed as witches to the San Francisco News. Demons are also exposed. Therefore the Source rewinds time before the girls were exposed. Phoebe and Leo are still in the Underworld and won't be effected by the time change. Time goes back to the moment where the girls face off against Shax. Phoebe is not there to repel Shax. So, he gets the advantage and sends Piper and Prue flying through a wall. Then he sends Dr. Griffins flying through the window. Between the season 3 and season 4 the following is a guess to what happened. Leo, Phoebe, and Cole escape the underworld. Leo and Phoebe return to the Manor and find Prue and Piper. He quickly heals Piper. She is revived. Then when he goes to heal Prue, it does not work. She's dead. Piper starts to cry. And Shax closes the doors to the manor with his powers, ending the season.

[edit] Premiere
The events immediately following last season’s cliffhanger are not portrayed in the premiere since actress Shannen Doherty was unavailable. The show’s exposition reveals that Cole and Leo somehow managed to get Phoebe out of the Underworld before the Source of All Evil could have her killed. Tragically, Prue had already died by the time they returned to the Manor. Piper, who was thrown through the wall after her older sister, was alive enough for Leo to heal her. But that doesn’t change the fact that demonic assassin Shax succeeded in his mission to end the Power of Three.
The action starts the night before Prue’s funeral. A week has gone by and a grieving Piper is still trying to resurrect her. The last spell she tries before Phoebe forces her to rest is a spell “To Call a Lost Witch.” For some reason, the call is answered by a young woman working in a social work office – her name is Paige Matthews, a reformed alcoholic attempting to find her roots now that her adoptive parents are dead. She attends Prue’s funeral despite not knowing her personally and goes up to the procession line in order to offer sympathies to the grieving family. Phoebe shakes Paige’s hand and has a premonition of her being attacked by Shax. Unfortunately, some demonic bounty hunters looking for Cole attack the funeral party before they can learn Paige’s name.
Penny’s spirit visits Piper and cryptically hints that the Charmed One’s destinies aren’t finished yet. Meanwhile, Cole and Phoebe track down Paige in order to protect her from Shax. During the fight they discover that Paige can orb, which surprises Paige as much as them. Leo can’t explain this because the Elders and the other Whitelighters have never heard of her before. Cole does some recon in the Underworld and learns that the Source believes that Paige can reconstitute the Charmed Ones, which is why he sent Shax after her. Both Penny and Patty are summoned to explain this: they reveal that Paige is the illegitimate daughter of Patty and her former Whitelighter Sam. This makes her Piper and Phoebe’s half-sister and fellow Charmed One. Paige comes to the manor to find some answers and reconstitutes the Power of Three by standing with her new sisters by the Book of Shadows and reciting the spell to vanquish Shax.
[edit] Demons and witchcraft
The Power of Three remains strong despite the change in the sisterly line up. Piper masters her explosion power and passes on her knowledge of potions and herbs to her newly found sibling. Phoebe’s levitation power significantly enhances her martial arts skills; her spell-writing gets so good that she eventually nails the incantation to vanquish the Source of All Evil. And Paige rapidly comes into her newfound power to telekinetically orb objects by calling for them. She also learns how to orb under her own power rather than as purely a panic reaction, advancing to the point where she can orb others with her. While her Whitelighter half doesn’t give her healing powers, she does have a limited ability to sense her family members. It takes Paige a while to learn about the consequences of casting spells for personal gain.
The main demonic threat of the year is the Source of All Evil, who directly confronts the Charmed Ones for the first time. He attempts to turn Paige to the side of evil in her first forty-eight hours as a witch, traps Piper in a fantasy world where she’s living in an insane asylum, and unleashes the Hollow in the climatic battle that serves as the turning point for the entire season. Other notable enemies that emerge over the season: the Oracle who prophesizes Paige’s arrival; Sykes, a demon whose M.O. resembles Belthazor’s; the evil Enchantress, who’s actually one of Paige’s past lives; the Seer, an upper level demon who has advised multiple Sources over the centuries; the Lazarus demon, which will only stay dead if its remains are buried in a cemetery; Julie, Cole’s demonic assistant once he turns evil again; the Vampire Queen and her children; and Dane, an upper level demon who tries to fill the void left by the Source.

Piper and Phoebe must grieve for Prue while struggling to accept their long-lost baby sister into their hearts. Piper’s anger at her late sister for recklessly risking her life consumes her to the point where she temporarily transforms into a demonic Fury. As she recovers, she takes up the mantle left by her sister as the family’s leader and protector. She later receives another harsh blow when she receives medical proof that the injuries she has sustained as a witch may prevent her from getting pregnant. Phoebe has a rough time adjusting to her new role as mediator between the stern Piper and flighty Paige (revisiting the sisterly dynamics from the first season). On the positive side, she finally finds a career she’s passionate about when she’s hired as an advice columnist for the Bay Mirror. As for Paige, she struggles to retain her independence now that she’s no longer an only child. At first worried that she’ll constantly be compared to Prue, she gradually becomes comfortable enough with her place in the family to move into the manor. Unfortunately, her new life as a Charmed One does not blend well with her work life at a social work office.

Piper and Leo’s marriage remains solid throughout the various hurdles that are thrown at them. Leo is there to comfort his wife as she grieves for Prue, gets used to Paige, and beats herself up for allowing Phoebe to turn evil. And Piper helps her husband remember what a good and heroic person he is when two ghosts from his past cause him to lose faith in himself. The fact that Paige was necessary to reconstitute the Charmed Ones means that the Elders no longer oppose the idea of Piper and Leo having half witch-half Whitelighter children of their own. Phoebe and Cole’s relationship undergoes a tumultuous ride this season. Cole abruptly proposes to her after they survive an attack; shortly afterwards, he becomes fully human when Phoebe finally uses the potion that kills his demonic half. Phoebe eventually accepts his proposal, completely unaware that their engagement and marriage will be plagued by lies, manipulation, and darkness. Under his influence, Phoebe moves out of the manor and takes steps away from her family and Charmed destiny. And Paige briefly reunites with her high school boyfriend Glen. He’s in and out of her life in a flash, but not before he finds out her secret and proves he’s okay with it.
[edit] Turning point
The Seer has a vision of the Charmed Ones vanquishing her master. In a panic, the Source recklessly uses the power of the Hollow to consume the sisters’ powers and destroy them himself. But the Seer fears that the Hollow will consume everything in the world of magic. She enlists Cole to serve as a vessel for the Hollow – he drains the Source’s powers so that the sisters can vanquish him with the new spell Phoebe has written. The Hollow is resealed and the balance of magic is preserved. However, Cole has now absorbed the demonic powers and is on his way to becoming the new Source.
Phoebe begins to have doubts about her upcoming marriage to Cole once she senses he’s keeping things from her. Cole, influenced by the Seer and the demonic powers inside him, keeps his inner struggle a secret. He arranges for the wedding to be in a dark ceremony that will increase the chances that their prophesized child will be a source of powerful dark magic. Paige’s instincts lead her to distrust Cole; she eventually convinces Piper that he’s become evil again. By now Phoebe and Cole have moved out of the manor and Phoebe is pregnant. The good in Cole reemerges upon learning of the pregnancy, which worries the Seer. As for Phoebe, she acquires the demonic ability to throw fire because of the baby’s influence on her. The Seer seduces Phoebe to the side of evil; together they make Cole accept the full powers of the Source.
Piper, Paige, and Leo, quite understandably, are devastated that Phoebe abandoned them to become Queen of the Underworld. Piper in particular goes into a downward spiral for failing to protect her sister. But Phoebe begins to turn back to the side of good when she learns the Seer has been feeding her tonics of pure evil. She finally reverts back to normal after Cole kills an innocent she was protecting, tearfully helping her sisters kill her husband using the Source Vanquishing spell. As for the unborn baby, a being of pure evil that was never really hers or Cole’s, it is taken by the Seer as part of her plan to become the new Source. The sisters vanquish the Seer and a large congregation of upper level demons by using the Power of Three spell.

The Angel of Destiny appears to the Charmed Ones and offers them a reward for fulfilling their destiny to vanquish the Source. That reward is the chance to become mortals so that they can lead normal lives again. This is a one-time offer that requires a two-thirds majority vote. Paige is opposed since magic gave her a family, but Piper and Phoebe are tempted after everything they’ve lost. While they’re deciding, an FBI agent who knows their secret blackmails them into helping him track down a serial killer who burns witches at the stake. Also, Cole’s spirit manages to contact Phoebe from the fiery limbo where vanquished demons are sent to be destroyed. She astral projects to him and tells him that he needs to move on with his life even though she still loves him. The sisters help the agent only to learn from Leo and Darryl that he’s the real witch hunter - the woman they caught for him was actually a witch under protective custody. The sisters manage to save the young woman before she’s burned alive. As for the FBI agent, he’s killed by Cole, who has escaped from limbo with an arsenal of stolen demonic powers. Cole vows to Phoebe that he hasn’t given up on them yet. Leo orbs the evidence against the sisters into a volcano.
The Angel of Destiny reappears in the manor to hear the sister’s final decision. By now, Phoebe has changed her mind since saving an innocent has made her feel good about being a witch again. Piper also agrees to keep their powers since magic is part of who they are. The Angel of Destiny then informs the sisters of an important development in Piper and Leo’s destiny: Piper is pregnant. The sisters ecstatically celebrate while the Angel of Destiny disappears, magically shutting the manor door on his way out.

This season brings back the new Power of Three. The premier begins with the sisters getting ready for the birth of Piper's baby. Phoebe is finalizing her divorce for Cole, and Paige has been promoted to Social Worker. Everything is going fine, when a mermaid is being hunted by a Sea Hag, along with Cole showing up, alive, and filled with new demonic powers. The sisters cast a spell and Phoebe is turned into a mermaid. They vanquish the demon Necron and the Sea Hag. Paige cast a spell to allow Cole to feel what's in Phoebe's heart. He alone breaks the spell, turning her human. Afterward the sisters continue their daily lives, now awaiting the assumed baby girl of Piper and Leo. Paige quits her job as a Social worker to become a full time witch. During the beginning of the season the girls face many different magical creatures. The sisters are also turned into crime-fighting superheros called the Protectors. This season also introduced the Avatars. They turn Cole into an Avatar, who reverse time, where the sisters never meet Paige. Paige is uneffected by the spell, on the fact that she has a cold, sneezes and orbs out, just as the spell is cast. Soon, she unites with her sisters in this alternate universe. Together they reform the Power of Three, and vanquish Cole. Paige soon returns to present day and finds that they really have vanquished Cole. Phoebe is able to live happily. Through the season Piper's baby begins to show all types of powers, making Piper invincible. It also switches Piper and Leo's powers. Paige also reunites with her biological father, Sam Wilder in this season. Piper soon gives birth to a baby boy, named Wyatt Matthew Halliwell. Grams performs a magical wiccaning. Phoebe starts a new relationship with the new owner of the Bay Mirror company, Jason Dean. Piper and Leo are having marriage issues, and go see a counselor. Piper cast a spell and Phoebe & Paige get caught up in the spell and travel through the time of Piper and Leo's relationship. We also discover what happened to the Halliwell's cat. Kit was the Charmed Ones familiar. Since its job was done after season 2, it left them. Kit was turned into a witch named Kitrina. The season ends with the resurrection of the Greek Titans. The Charmed Ones don't have the power to stop them. The Titans are searching for the Elders. They find and kill half of them. A stranger from the future, Chris Perry shows up. He sets a different plans of action in motion. Leo becomes an Elder, who turns the Charmed Ones into Greek Goddess. Piper-goddess of Earth, Phoebe-goddess of love, and Paige-goddess of war. Piper uses her Greek powers and vanquishes the Titans. When she learns Leo has left her, she uses her powers against the city. Leo teleports her to the Heavens. He explains to her what's happened and takes away her powers, along with her memory and emotions. She becomes positively "chipper". The girls have a party with Darryl and Sheila. The season ends with Chris scattering Leo's orbs. Then he stands and closes the manor doors with his powers.

This season brings with it many changes. The sisters lives have become more complex now that they have a magical baby to raise and a new whitelighter that wants them to vanquish every single demon. Piper is still in her happy mode. Phoebe has cut her hair and Paige has started doing temp jobs. The sisters (Phoebe and Paige) realize Leo has been gone for too long and begin to look for them. Chris is holding back the secret that he sent Leo to Valhalla. The sisters soon find him in Valhalla and go there and try to rescue him. Their first attempt is unsuccessful. Chris gives them Valkryie pendants. They soon become demi-goddesses and travel to Valhalla where they save Leo. Leo's spell on Piper is also broken when she sees him. She is very angry and remains in Valhalla. Soon, she comes to her senses and returns to the Manor with her sisters. Leo becomes very suspicious of Chris during the first half of the season. Phoebe also receives the power of empathy. Paige's many temp jobs leads her to the magical situation of that episode. She has saved the lives of countless clients and fallen in love with Richard Montana, who is a part of a feuding family of witches. Piper ends her relationship with Leo, so they can fulfill their destiny separately. She begins to date and Wyatt scares off most of them. Phoebe reveals to Jason that she is a witch and he ends their relationship. The girls are met by Sigmund, who is a teacher at Magic School. Magic School is an institution where young witches can learn the craft safely. The headmaster is an old friend of Leo's, the Elder Gideon. It is unknown by the Charmed Ones, but Gideon has a hidden agenda. At Magic School, Phoebe learns that she will get pregnant, and Piper has a second child. She discovers this second child, is no other than Chris, who came back from the future to stop Wyatt from turning evil. They try to bring Piper and Leo together again. Paige is soon let in on the secret. Piper and Leo get sent to the ghostly plane, where they have sex. Phoebe and Paige alert Piper to Chris' true existence and that she is pregnant again. The season continues with Piper's second pregnancy. Gideon is also trying to eliminate Wyatt, whom he views has a threat to the magical community. Phoebe's powers (premonition, levitation, and empathy) are also stripped from her, during a magical trial. During the season finale, Gideon teams up with Barbas to kill Wyatt. He shifts the balance, by allowing the evil counter-parts of Leo and Chris to come into the Good World. The Charmed Ones go into the Evil World to get their good Leo and Chris back. When they return, the world has become utopia, and you can get limbs cut off for any misdeed. Piper goes into labor. She casts a spell over her sisters to make them happy. Gideon has kidnapped Wyatt. Chris is killed by Gideon and fades away. Leo breaks Piper's spell on her sisters. He goes to the underworld. He knows the only way to shift back the balance is to commit a great evil. He kills Gideon, shifting the balance back. Piper successfully gives birth to baby Christopher. Leo goes into the hospital room to be with his wife and new born son. The hospital doors automatically close behind him, ending the season.
[edit] Season 7
After the death of the Elder Gideon, Leo is on the deep end trying to find Barbas. Piper, Phoebe, and Paige settle into their new lives with another magical addition to their home, baby Chris. During this season there have been many changes in magic, relationships, and demons.
Phoebe and Paige have a wiccaning for Chris, and invite Grams to do the ceremony. Because Wyatt and Chris are having a sibling rivalry, Grams casts a spell on the boys. The spell accidentally enters the sisters, turning them (in adult bodies) into little girls.
Phoebe also has a relationship with Leslie St. Clair, who becomes her ghost writer when Phoebe takes time off. They have sex, and Phoebe avoids him many times.
The Elders are convinced that they can't trust Leo anymore, after an Elder named Zola goes missing. Leo begins to see strange floating heads, telling him things. These heads turn out to be the Avatars (Season 5). They turn Leo into an Avatar, after his Vision Quest with Chris. The new power that the Elders have been sensing is the Avatars, and the sisters think that they are evil. Kyle Brody investigates the sisters and is looking for the Avatars as well because they killed his parents in New York. Leo reveals that he's an Avatar to Piper and Phoebe. Paige does not take it so well. The Avatars want to create Utopia, and need the Charmed Ones' help. The demons unleash a powerful demon named Zankou to help stop the Avatars. He teams up with Agent Brody, and they end up killing one of them. Also killing Kyle. Paige is grieving, but then the Avatars turn the world into Utopia. The sisters realize that this was a mistake and team up with Zankou to take the Avatars down. The Avatars, after being threatened with vanquishing potions, return the world to the way it was.
Leo does not know what the Elders plan to do with him because of his union with the Avatars. Phoebe has a brief three-episode romance with a half-demon named Drake, who turned out to be working for Cole to help Phoebe to not give up on love. The Elders erase Leo's memory and sends him away from the sisters after Piper is poisoned by a demon. Phoebe and Paige go in search for him. One of the Elders is trying to convince Leo to become one of them. In the end, he chooses his family over the Elders and that makes him human again, without any powers.
Zankou tries to get the spiritual nexus which dwells under the Halliwell manor so that he can take over the Underworld. The FBI also comes close to exposing the sisters. Zankou steals the Book of Shadows, and he also takes Phoebe's and Piper's powers. Agent Sheridan is sent into the manor with a hidden camera on her, only to be killed by Zankou in the attic, thereby causing the FBI to surround the manor with a SWAT team. The sisters realize that there is no turning back now, and thanks to Prue, who taught her astral projection magic to Leo, who then finally taught it to the sisters, Phoebe, Piper and Paige manage to trick Zankou and get the book back. They find a spell to destroy the nexus, although that would also destroy anyone close to it. Down in the basement, Zankou has absorbed the nexus into himself, when the sisters say the incantation. Zankou starts to explode and Phoebe says "This is it!". Then there is an impact from the basement, which causes the FBI to enter the house. They find no one inside, also saying that no one could have survived. Leo is shocked, but is interrupted by three girls, who turns out to be the sisters in disguise. The ones defeating Zankou were their astral selves and, since they now are presumed dead, they can start a new, demon-free life. Darryl, who's at the manor as well, walks outside in sadness. But when he sees 3 women and a man, he smiles, knowing the Halliwells are alive. The manor door is magically closed by something that sounds exactly like Prue's power.

At the start of the eighth season, the sisters are presumed dead. However, alive with a desire to put their old lives behind them and live a demon-free existence, Piper, Phoebe, Paige and Leo cast a spell creating new identities. They alter their appearances to the outside world, but still appear as themselves to those closest to them. Piper tries to live the normal family life by being a wife to Leo, raising two sons, and running her nightclub, P3. Phoebe embraces her new life and tries to form a relationship with Dex Lawson (Jason Lewis, Sex and the City), a gorgeous artist who had admired her from afar but never had the courage to ask her out. Now, with a new lease on life, Phoebe goes after Dex, especially after she has a premonition that she will marry him. Wanting to move on and put magic behind her, Paige still can't ignore the Whitelighter in her (as her healing abilities have appeared), and answers the call of a young witch named Billie, who has telekinetic powers. College student by day and fighter of evil by night, Billie is a fearless girl with raw talents. As the Charmed Ones work with Billie to hone her skills and teach her the importance of their calling, they realize how much they miss magic. During the season the girls, along with Billie vanquish many demons. Leo is also killed in a car accident. He is cryogenically frozen by a demon. The Angel of Destiny reveals that he will return if they succeed in vanquishing the Ultimate Power. Billie is also searching for her sister Christy who was kidnapped by demons at a young age. Billie receives the power of thought projection. She finds Christy, who, we learn, is working with the Triad. Phoebe has given up on love and tries various ways to become pregnant. She gets special assistance from Cupid aka Coop. The sisters vanquish two members of the Triad. The third continues to coach Christy down her dark path of vanquishing the Charmed Ones. She is also trying to convince Billie that the Charmed Ones are evil and need to be stopped.
The Charmed Ones must face Christy and Billie in the series finale. The Triad's plan is the vanquish both the Halliwells and Jenkins, so the five most powerful witches will no longer exist. Christy tries to convince Billie that the sisters are evil and lost their way. She successfully converts her sister. With the help of their imaginary friend Dumaine, the magical community turns against the sisters and they are left to live in the Underworld. Both sisters try to summon the Hollow, which separates into all of them. The final showdown is at the manor. The sisters combined powers cause the manor to explode, killing Phoebe, Paige, and Christy. The angel of Destiny returns Leo. Piper and Billie are the only survivors. Billie leaves trying to find a way to save her sister.

Piper enlists Coop for his help to reverse time. Piper and Leo travel into the future where they meet their future selves and find the only way to reverse time. Phoebe and Paige are restored as Christy is sacrificed for the Greater Good. After the battle, the sisters decide it is time they write down their story in the Book of Shadows, so that all future generations will know what has happened. Time passes and Piper, now an old woman, reads the story of the Charmed Ones from the Book of Shadows to her eight-year old granddaughter. When she is done, she closes the book, hands it to her granddaughter, and happily exits with Leo. Other grandchildren run through the front door into the manor. Then, Piper's youngest granddaughter who she had just read to uses her telekinetic powers to close the door for the last time.
