Charles 'Charlie' Stubbs is a character in ITVs Coronation Street. Having only arrived in 2003, his parentage is unknown, and he was born in 1971 (aged 35 years). Charlie is portrayed by Bill Ward.

Charlie Stubbs first appeared along with another builder in 2003. He needed a parking space for his bulldozer, but Mike Baldwin refused to move his car so they could park. Charlie lifted Mike's Jaguar up with the bulldozer in response. Mike Baldwin only just managed to save his car from being smashed.

Nearly everyone on the street once saw Charlie as a nice man, especially Jason and Shelley. The only people who thought differently were Dev and Sunita Alahan, Bev Unwin, Betty Williams, Deirdre Barlow and Ciaran McCarthy. Even though Charlie was patient with girlfriend Shelley's agoraphobia, he is nevertheless generally a mean person. Charlie managed to isolate Shelley from her family members and friends. He told Shelley that he heard Sunita insulting Shelley behind her back. Despite having saved Sunita's life when she was nearly killed by Dev's jealous former girlfriend Maya, he bore a grudge against the Alahans because they had caught him trying to defraud their insurance company.
Charlie is manipulative and ruthless when it comes to getting what he wants. When David Platt sought to interfere in his affair with his tennant Maria Sutherland he saw that his control of the situation was being threatened and persued the relentless teenager with threats. David continued to antagonize Charlie, and Charlie lured him to Maria's flat where he proceeded to fill the bathtub and hold David's head beneath the water for a few seconds at a time. Charlie was trying to kill David, and he continued his torment of the teen even after he had agreed that he would stop the behaviour that threatened the secrecy of Charlie's affair with Maria, saying; "One more question for you David, answer this and you can go. Who put the ram in the ramalamadingdong?" When David did not comprehend this he received further submersion in the water. Charlie appeared to be enjoying himself, and would have carried on his behaviour for longer had Maria not walked in on them seconds later.
Charlie's parentage is not made obvious but any reference he has made to his mother has been scornful, and he mentioned to Tracy Barlow that his mother was absent and that he had a brother whom he had not met. It is unclear how much of what Charlie says is made up to emotionally endear himself to Tracy and how much is actual truth. During the incident with David in Maria's bathroom, Charlie claims "she was a nasty piece of work", in reference to his mother.

Charlie ows his own maintenance company, and employs Jason Grimshaw (in whose love life Charlie has consistently interfered). Charlie became increasingly bored with Shelley's agoraphobia, as he constantly hit on other women. For example, Charlie requested a kiss from Violet Wilson. Also, in November 2004, he snogged a woman he met in the Rovers Return. Also recently, Charlie had sex in the Rovers Return's backroom, and allegedly, the night before he was due to get married to Shelley, he had sex with another woman, whom he seduced on his stag do.
Bev Unwin despises Charlie, despite having previously had an affair with him herself; she knows he is the one that made Shelley afraid of her own mother.
Charlie proposed to Shelley. The wedding took place, but when the vicar asked Shelley 'Do you agree to marry this man?', she exclaimed 'I don't'. They split up and Charlie began dating Tracy Barlow in December 2005.
Charlie and Tracy moved in together at the Harris's old house in 2006. Charlie then let his flat to Maria Sutherland and subsequently began having an affair with her. Maria revealed the details of her affair with Charlie to Tracy on 30 October 2006.
