Charles Seale-Hayne

Charles Hayne Seale-Hayne PC (1833-1903) was a British Liberal politician.
Called to the bar in 1857, he was Liberal Member of Parliament for Ashburton, Devon from 1885 until 1903. He served in government as Paymaster-General from 1892-5. He was appointed a Privy Counsellor in 1892. He was the first Chairman of the Dartmouth and Torbay Railway.
In his will he endowed an industrial college near Newton Abbot. Seale-Hayne College opened in 1919, later becoming part of the University of Plymouth.
He is buried in Kensal Green Cemetery
