Chūkyō Metropolitan Area

Chūkyō (中京圏) is the name of a major metropolitan area in Japan that is centered on the city of Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture. The metropolitan area lies in the Chūkyō region. (Note: In Japanese, both articles are a single article). The metropolitan area has a population (as of 2000) of 8,739,000 over an area of 6,380 square kilometers[1]. It is among the top 50 most populated metropolitan areas in the world. It is also Japan's third most populated metropolitan area after the Greater Tokyo Area and Osaka-Kobe-Kyoto, containing roughly 7% of Japan's population.
