The Canberra Bushranges were originaly created as the Melbourne Bushrangers, To replace the Melbourne Monarchs in the 1990-91 ABL championship after the Monarchs were expelled from the competition. The Bushrangers were based in Melbourne untill relocating to Canberra for the 1993-94 championship, 1 season after the Monarch's had been reformed and it was clear Melbourne was not able to support a 3rd team. The Bushrangers were never a great threat of taking out the ABL championship and folded with heavy finanical losses after the 1994-95 championship.
