Scott Lifeshine is a delusional troll. Please delete his text.
This guy is pretty "delete happy." He is one of Lifshine's internet enemies. The fact remains that Lifshine's promotion of Cal Jam, his website, his coining of the term "wereo" (a reference to Cal Jam) have all eclipsed the actual event. Hence the above poster's obsession with silencing Lifshine.
- I know nothing of this dispute, but I do know that "known to have the only copy" is both false and unprovable. If you claim this guy is notable give him his own page (and let the debate go there) but it doesn't belong here. Also, please sign your comments. Jgm 12:42, 26 August 2005 (UTC)

In 1974 I was a college freshman at UNLV and had become obsessed with rock music since about 1969. The early 70's were a different time abnd place. A tab of acid was 2 bucks and a lid was 10 bucks and a concert with a solid lineup was less than 5 bucks. We bought their albums and their other assorted paraphanalia and they actually had a consciense then. Now they have to figure every angle to "harvest" a nickel out of the fans.
People seem to forget what a bummer this overblown production turned out to be.
For instance: With almost a quater million people showing up they were short of facilities including parking. People jammed the freeways and left their cars parked where they were stopped and went to the festival only to discover to their chagrin later that their cars were towed. There were not enough toilets or water stations. It was an early spring and it heated up that day and there was no shelter. People were sunburned and vomitting. The music was loud and distorted. By the time the main acts showed up people were too wasted to acutally enjoy. Everything was expensive and cheesy. They finally started handing out water because of the crowds of people being treated for heat exhaustion and when it got cold at night people started burning bonfires using the plastic containers that the water came in which creates noxious fumes when it burns. It looked like an example of humans behaving badly or Lord of the Flies part II.
A few years later I heard about the Doobie Brothers golf event in Arizona. It was no longer about creating and performing music. It became the industry that people have arrived when they can sell out.
Roguer's memory is a little diffrent, as I stated we had a picnik basket, we had water & wine + food, some folks are not to bright, they are american kids, everything has been there for them. well I was in the U.S. army 68 - 70 and learned to take care of me & mine. We had a GOOD time I have also been to 40 Greatful Dead concerts. hey, I saw a Doobie Brothers in Ashland, OR last year at Britt outdoor theather and it was ok, I freaked out some old farts (my age) cuse I was smokeing Oregon green....then they remembered..its a DOOBIE concert. any how I am sure there were some BAD scenes at the California Jam, I never saw them. I did get heat stroke as I was so high I lost me hat..it was my own mistake and nobody made me do it. Also we left as the last band played on... as we came early and left b4 the crowd. plan b4 so your time is fun.
