Bruno Julliard

Bruno Julliard is the chairman of the UNEF, the main students' union in France. He is studying public law at the Lumière University in Lyon II.

Bruno Julliard (born on the 9th of February 1981 in Le-Puy-en-Velay of whom his mother Arlette Arnaud-Landau is the Socialist mayor) joined the UNEF in 1999. His step-father is a Communist militant, and his grandfather was a French resistant who was shot during the Second World War. He became student vice-president of his university and chairman of the Lyon II students' union in 2001. In 2003 he entered UNEF National Board. From 2004 to 2006 he was elected to the National Council for Higher Education and Research (Conseil National de l'Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche, an advisory body to the French Ministry of Education) Since July 2005, he has been the leader of the Majorité Nationale fraction and, therefore, chairman of the UNEF.

Before being elected chairman of the UNEF, Bruno Julliard was a local branch's leader of the French Young Socialist Movement (Mouvement des Jeunes Socialistes) and Socialist Party.
