Brian Patrick Dawkins Sr. (born October 13, 1973 in Jacksonville, Florida) is an American football player who currently plays free safety for the Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL.

A three-year starter at strong safety for Clemson, Dawkins finished his career with 234 tackles and 11 interceptions. He as an All-ACC and a 2nd-team All-America selection as a senior when his team-high 6 INTs tied him for the conference lead. Dawkins, who was also an outstanding special teams player, made 35 stops on those units. Dawkins was named the first-team strong safety on Clemson's all-centennial team in 1995. While attending Raines High School in Jacksonville, Florida, Dawkins was an All-State selection, and helped lead his team to 30 consecutive victories.

The Eagles' second-round draft choice in 1996, Dawkins landed a starting role in the second game of his rookie season and has averaged 94 tackles per year, while posting 28 interceptions -- tied with Ronde Barber for most by any player with their current team-- and countless notable hits, most memorably on Michael Vick and Alge Crumpler. Dawkins is one of four players in NFL history to post 28 INTs and 17 sacks, joining Leroy Butler, Rodney Harrison and Ronde Barber. Dawkins has been selected five times to play in the Pro Bowl.
Brian Dawkins re-signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on August 6th, 2006. He is now under contract to play for the Eagles through 2008.

- In his career with the Eagles, Dawkins has earned a reputation as one of the most dominant defensive players in the NFL, combining speed with hard hitting capabilities. He is considered equally effective in both pass and run defenses.
- In the 2002 season, Dawkins became the first player in NFL history to record a sack, an interception, a fumble recovery and a touchdown reception in the same game, against the Houston Texans.[1]
- Dawkins is also known for twice suplexing wide receivers of the Washington Redskins. Once, in 2003 to Cliff Russell and again, to Laveranues Coles. Both of these were regarded as legal tackles, and both were similar to the German suplex in that they were enacted belly-to-back after the receiver had caught the pass.
- He is also an avid Wolverine (comics) fan and figurine collector.
- His nicknames include B Dawk, Wolverine, and Weapon X.
- Brian is known for his fondness of pug puppies.
- He is also known to have the phrase "I love football" on his upper thigh.
