Biennale of Sydney

Sydney Biennale, a Contemporary art festival, held every two years in Sydney, Australia. Similar to other Biennales, such as the Venice Biennale. The festival began in 1973, and was held again in 1976, 1979 and 1982. After that the festival has been held every even year until 2004 except for 1994.
[edit] 2004 Biennale
The 2004 Sydney Biennale was held at several venues around Sydney city. It showed work from many artists from many different countries. Venues included the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Artspace, the Botanic Gardens, the Sydney Opera House, and the Museum of Contemporary Art at Circular Quay.
The theme of the 2004 Biennale was On Reason and Emotion. The range of media used was broad, with drawing, painting, video, sound, animation, audio, photography and sculptures all forming part of the exhibition. The different venues themselves have a different range of work, with the MOCA focusing on video and photographic work and installations, with less emphasis on video and slightly more traditional work hung in the AGNSW.

The 2006 Biennale held 8 June - 27 August has the theme of "Zones of Contact", with 85 artists from 44 countries.
