Ben Edwards, (born 1984) is a self proclaimed jack of all trades, master of none. Growing up in Central Coast Queensland, he started life in suburban Sydney to parents D.J Edwards respectively. Having a lack of fear regarding censorship and not heeding any warning from his loving parents, chose a career within the local, and lacking, film industry.
His first film, 'Life of a Chippy' was a satrical documentry on the general (and predictable) life paths chosen by people of his small town who chose not to leave after school. Filmed on a small budget and even stricter time constraints, the real miracle is the film was ever made at all. Premiering at the artspace, Mackay, Ben said this of the film; "It just feels good to know that people MIGHT (i stress MIGHT) watch this film and be inspired to branch out beyond the shallow bubble we create in this small town"
Ironically, a year later, after failing to get numourus scripts financed, Ben turned to trade. Becoming a locksmith apprentice for the next four years. Around the workshop, phrases such as "thats just farked mate" as well as "mate, i gave it a red hot go" weren't uncommon as Ben adopted the 'chippy' lifestyle he had berated oh so recently. It was this lifestyle that would eventually see his life take an unexpected turn to crime.
Due to town size as well as working for the only locksmith trade company in the local area, Ben's knowledge of various safe's inner workings was vast. And one dark and exceptionally hot christmas eve, a dishevelled and intoxicated Ben was caught passed out in a local bowls club's vault. Although he hadn't had the chance to take any money, his court appearance and conviction of break and enter rattled his spirits and without word he packed up and moved to the Gold Coast.
Residing in Burleigh, on an acridge named FICUS, eddo tuned into his spirituallity via Body Boarding. Although his first brush with the sport almost eventuating in his death, he came to realize mother nature's fury and vowed to honour her and to serve her mighty will. Constantly turning down sponsorship offers, as well as earning his boarding nickname, 'eddo' was on the rise in the fame game, more for his choice not to 'sell out' the sport he loved so much than his actual boarding ability.
But he blew away any dis-believers when he chose the ride the famed 'Mavericks' waves off of Northern California. The first to ride the waves on a Booger.
On the second day of riding Mavericks, the wind picked up 30 knots out of nowhere and caused the swell to wash without warning. With out the safety of a jet ski (he paddled out) Ben was caught in the wash and to this day has not been seen again. It has been doubted by experts that he is dead, for the 'eddo' is still a force we are to see much more of.
