Begin (band)

Begin (ビギン) is a popular three-man pop group from Ishigaki Island (石垣島), Okinawa, Japan. Their sound contains many elements of traditional Okinawan folk music, and prominently features the sanshin, an Okinawan three-stringed banjo. Perhaps their most famous song is 'Shimanchu nu takara'. Begin has had at least one song appear on the NHK program Minna no Uta.

They are friends each other from when they were an elementary school. But when they graduated their same senior high, they were separated for their different dreams. One day, Eisho gathered them again and started their music active. In 1988, 5th December, They song for their friend wedding as first time called “BEGIN”. Then they began to famous as ‘BEGIN’. They sold 22 singles, 24 albums and 8 DVDs by now. (November 13, 2006)
