Basu Chatterjee

Basu Chatterjee (born January 10, 1930 in Ajmer, Rajasthan, India) is a noted Indian film director. His films are very similar to those of Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Like Mukherjee, he built his plots on middle-class lives. Some of his best films are Chitchor, Choti si Baat, Khatta Mitha. In Chitchor, K. J. Yesudas renders the beautiful songs: Jab Dip Jale Aana..., Gori tera Gaon Bada Pyara... He has directed many Bengali films. He has also directed the Detective Series for Doordarshan Byomkesh Bakshi.
